Getting ready to feel tired tomorrow. Maybe we should get rid of daylight savings time
Had a nice dinner last night for my birthday. JoJo the waitperson wanted to introduce me to the lobster I ordered. I was like , no, I don’t need to meet the meat. But she tapped me on the shoulder to show me the the lobster on the tray on the way to meet the chef. It was delicious nonetheless.
Then today I got rid of some of the summer pots which didn’t make it through the recent frost. And I wrestled the down comforter into the duvet with the help of two cats. I guess it really is November.
Happy Birthday, @Wellspring, and thank you for the laugh.
Weekend was fairly boring, and somewhat productive. Our master bath tub/shower and floor are being replaced with a new tile shower and floor starting today (wow they are loud), so we had to clean out a bunch of stuff. Made it to the gym twice, had a friend over for dinner, and rode my bike several miles (may be last time of the year- it’s getting too cold out for me to ride). My husband made dinner yesterday and cleaned up most of the mess as he went along, so that was nice.
Yeah, long weekend! Lucky enough to have Monday off.
Returned from a work Boston trip Friday night (thanks CC for the transportation recommendations).
Today I did some errands and am currently baking a delicious chocolate cake from scratch for D1’s birthday . Tomorrow we will drive and celebrate with her in Columbus.
Need to exercise yet today.
Monday pup has his annual visit and we are scheduled for some snow - which is WAY too early! That was the date I gave birth for the first time and it was in the 50’s then !
Happy weekend!
Puttering around home today. Lots of play with the dogs. Ran a couple of short errands. Husband is working on the tractor to get it going before the snow flies (snowblower attachment). I’ve been fine-tuning some hardware I need to optimize my needlework stand . . . poring over a nuts-and-bolts website for the right sized threaded rods, etc.
This evening husband is going to attach new bookcases to the wall and I’m getting piles of books off the floors of our kids’ rooms!
Rest of the weekend is more nesting, and hoping for a trail walk with the dogs. It might be cold enough for the ticks to be less of an issue than they normally are. @abasket we’ve got snow coming Tuesday, guess it decided to stop by you first. Monday is our younger dog’s neuter. Already nervous, guess I’m a helipupter mom.
I took my mountain of cardboard to the recycling place. It was a big job.
Other than that, runs to Home Depot, watching LSU/Alabama. Watched Minnesota defeat Penn State.
Looking forward to the 3 day weekend
What am I doing this weekend? Talking on the phone, apparently. It’s another day alone for me but DD’17 called for 2 hours (she does the thing where we go on speaker phone and go about our business and chat now and then), immediately then DD’19 called, stopped when her BF called, then called me back. DH has called twice, before and after all that.
If DH doesn’t have to work tomorrow, we will probably meet DD’17 at the mall. If he does work, I may go myself for something to do.
Started out with a run and then coffee with my running buddies. Took it easy for the rest of the day although I got some laundry done. Watched Minnesota beat Penn State (go Gophers!), H and I went to church for the first time in awhile then out to eat.
Tomorrow and Monday (Holiday) will be a mix of some chores/errands, workouts and relaxing. Doctor appointment on Monday and am thinking of seeing a movie that day too
Having one extra day off just seems like so much more time.
We were going to go to Shenandoah again for the day, but it’s freezing here and we both have colds. DH has a three day weekend and is going to the office two of the three days.
Finished beading 10 yards of lace for my niece’s headpiece; now need to attach it to the veiling. Annoyed that I bought burgundy beads from four different places and none of them are the right color. $#@& monitor color scales! Can’t find burgundy beads in the brick-and-mortar stores, either. Not a deal breaker, just means I have to do something different. Unfortunately, not worth the postage to return the beads I can’t use.
I’m happy to have a weekend home. The last two weekends we did mini vacations to the central Ca coast and Santa Fe. While it’s wonderful to travel it’s nice to be home. Today I spent part of the day going through a couple of cookbooks I checked out of the library. Made pita bread for the first time. Tomorrow we might go visit the inlaws and put some items inside a new travel trailer H bought. We are storing at the inlaws till we get a spot ready at our house. Weather is beautiful but way too warm for November. I have my patio door open and I’m enjoying the Mexican music that is drifting up from a party somewhere in the neighborhood.
I did have a teary call from youngest this morning. She is on day 13 of a migraine and is not feeling any support from her new Dr. she’s frustrated at the Dr and at not being able to do her normal “life” activities.
I used a toothbrush and Mr. Clean Clean Freak to clean the grout in the shower. OK not that glamorous but necessary.
Am helping DH collect donations (and give out poppies) for the veterans. If you see any veterans collecting, please give generously.
Football and the last of the yard winterizing chores for us.
We did some shopping, football watching, leaf raking and winterizing yard and then since it was decent out and still light put the lights on the bushes for Christmas. They won’t be turned on until after Thanksgiving but I won’t be shivering hanging them this year.
Yesterday had a tough hilly 6 and change run with friends, then off to pick up beer at a brewery where we are club members. Bitter cold here yesterday - 19 degrees when we started running. Early bedtime. Today I’ve already enjoyed a nice walk with the dogs. Last week was rough with work and family issues so I’m determined today will be great and the rest of the week will follow suit.
Oops… Gotta turn off sprinkler system. Winterize yard seems popular and need to finish up today. Saw a fun film at the Israeli film festival last night in the burbs. Some college football yesterday and pro football today. I also worked half a day Saturday.
Have to decide if going to Michigan to see them play Michigan State next weekend is worth it. Gonna be like 35 degrees
Hmmm but would be fun… Hmmm
Brunch yesterday at a friend’s house with a lovely group of ladies I’ve known for 20 plus years. The weather here was 80 degrees so it was perfect for sitting outside. Heading out to look for new ski boots for me then off to the horse races at Del Mar. It’s supposed to be 75 here today.
Flew out to visit my son (freshman) for the long weekend. My definition of a great weekend is visiting my kids in their college environment or them visiting us over the holidays.
Good weekend so far for me. Hair cut yesterday, and caught up with friend I don’t see very often, plus went to gym and then to dinner to celebrate another friends 60th bday.
Today I ventured to Costco to get some new phones, then to gym, and have been enjoying “me” time, as husband is off visiting his daughter. I am just about done with stocking stuffers. We have 3 kids and they all have fairly serious significant others, so I am likely doing 6 stockings. We’ve gone to mostly practical stuff, but it’s fun to put them together.
Tomorrow we visit a financial planner, to see if someone else agrees that we should be fine if we retire “early.” I may sneak in a last bike ride - apparently it’s going to be 60 degrees.
