Last night we went out to early dinner with a friend. We came home and I went to bed early. I think I slept 12 hours last night. I needed to “catch up” from vacation and not feeling well, but I can’t remember the last time I slept that long. Today was catch up after vacation day.
Tomorrow we are going for our first ride on our fancy new carbon bikes. I’ve been riding bikes for a long time, and I had no idea carbon would make pedaling so much easier. I feel like I should call these our old people bikes.
Picked up DH from the airport last night; he leaves for Basel on Monday. We hung out and relaxed today, as he has been in Singapore two of the last three weeks.
I’m assembling stuff to take to a charity quilting group we run. Tomorrow is our quarterly workshop. We’d like to deliver a room’s worth of quilts in November.
Have been sewing while bingewatching sports and an Israeli series, Srugim.
New front walkway/patio is almost done. Looking at benches/planters, etc. I may paint the front door. I need to decide before it gets cold. There are a LOT of rocks in the new garden bed area, some pre-existing and some from their work; debating whether to take them out or trust the stone folks to deal with it.
DH is going in to the office tomorrow. Sigh. Think I’ll make him another apple crisp with the apples we picked last weekend.
Picked up library book hold, and started reading, the next book club selection.
Continued research for family vacation to Costa Rica in January.
Met a movie meet-up group to see The Farewell followed by dinner.
Heading to Kennedy Center for the opening festival of the new Reach Pavilion this afternoon.
I posted on Friday that we were headed up to visit S19 at his college and watch his first home game of the season. I realized this morning that it is apple picking season in the Hudson Valley so we stopped on the way back and picked 20+ pounds of gala, empire, Fuji and cortland apples. It was perfect weather and a beautiful morning. Kids also got some Apple cider and a few baked goods. Dropping Dh at Newark Airport for a business trip then should be home by late afternoon.
My neighbor didn’t have much trouble with our dog but according to her father, she has been “cured” of wanting a dog of her own, as she’s been begging for a dog for years. I guess all of her other dog sitting jobs have been more like my lab, who is very mellow compared to our 2nd dog!
Husband and Dog2 are out for their one-on-one ramble. He took Dog1 earlier this afternoon. They also helped him change the oil in the tractor.
Heard from DS1 this afternoon, made plans to get together in his city in a couple of Saturdays.
I still have to do a small grocery run that I don’t want hanging over me as the week starts. And needlework. My stand is in the living area, and my project is already in its scroll plaintively waiting for me to get back to it. Soon . . .
It was a good weekend. But I gotta admit, I’m sort of exhausted from it! Lots of driving for one and a half days of lake bliss but the travel was hellish coming back and additional stops are making me ready to CRASH to prep for the week!
It was opening weekend of the fall soccer season so I coached 4 games and watched our professional women’s team play.
Did not go wine tasting; but it does not mean there was no wine involved this weekend.
Lots of little thing to do around the house… the two days flew by like two seconds. Gutter is attached. Library cleaned out. Laundry done. Work emails checked and answered. Cool ?
Pre-wedding stuff. Took my g/f to breakfast, as a TU for all her help in dressing me. Then we went for last dress fitting and brought it home. Bought some earrings (simulated sapphire) to match the dress color and style. Found the last item to put in the goody bag.
For the first time since 2007, I need a large bag to send thru baggage. My carry on and larger bag almost entirely gift items. The MOB doesn’t want me shipping anymore items to her condo.
My youngest is a cadet at West Point and we will see him this weekend when we drive up to the school to watch a football game.
Go ArmyWestPoint!
Well, last weekend was a bust (DH ended up in hospital), but this coming weekend we’re hoping to visit my childhood hometown and attend a presentation featuring my (long deceased) father’s photographs.
OK, I’ll start. My weekend started today.
Beautiful day here, today, so a friend and I walked 2 miles to a boathouse and Kayaked for 1.5 hours, then walked the 2 miles back.
Tomorrow - breakfast with a widow group, then a folk group sing, then dinner from a food truck at a local HS scholarship fundraiser outdoor music event.
Sunday TBD, but if the good weather continues something outdoors for sure (even if it’s reading on the balcony).
Goin’ upta camp.
It’s supposed to be around 80 degrees both days. We’ll get to swim in the lake in late September! The foliage should be turning nicely, also.
Dinner at our good friends. Mr. is flying home tonight and sweats that he brought a bottle of very good Sonoma rose to take with us.
My weekend started last night with 2 daughters from Columbus coming home for my b-day today. A long run, a hike, a late diner breakfast, a little shopping and an all-family Mexican dinner out followed by outside deck time at my son’s.
After a Saturday morning breakfast my girls will leave and I want to check out the fall tent sale at one of our running stores. Need to be thinking about an action plan for some front landscaping to replace and some exterior painting that needs to get done.
Probably a visit to my mom’s about 45 minutes away. I’ll check my garden and try to find a little down time to just chill as well.
Tomorrow H and I will be going to a support group luncheon meeting for a condition that H and D are carriers for. Otherwise, it is a normal working weekend for H, he is a pastor. He has Mondays and Tuesdays off, not sure that we have anything planned for those days.
Happy birthday, @abasket! I hope you had fun with your daughters – a perfect way to spend a special day.
Dh is away this weekend. Tomorrow I’m accompanying a friend to a 55+ community to check it out as she and her h plan to sell their house and downsize. Tomorrow night I’m looking forward to a quiet night in. Sunday I’m having brunch with a friend and then going to a community theater play and early dinner with another friend. Dh comes back late Sunday.
I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!
It’s my H’s birthday on Sunday, so happy birthday weekend to you @abasket!
We are going to his mom’s to visit and to go to dinner with them and his brother and wife. I’m weirdly anxious about the whole thing, no real reason. Sometimes I feel that my boring life doesn’t measure up with his brother’s. But it’s the life we like even if SIL thinks I’m subjugating my life for my H.
Well that was honest. And not something I can admit to the people IRL.
We will try and get home earlier on Sunday so we can join our weekly golf date with our neighbors. Not too many great fall weekends left.
Hosting out of town friends!
Nothing special this weekend! Supposed to be really warm and sunny here in CT, so I may enjoy an end-of-season swim (H has kept the pool heater running this week), some grilling, and maybe a G&T or two ?.
Tons of tomato’s in the garden so I see a pot of tomato soup in my future.
Going to run some errands first and maybe we’ll pop down to the Audi dealer and see if we won $5000 (doubt it).
