Whatcha Doin This Weekend??!

Bird walk and farmers’ market this morning, a neighborhood “deck party” this evening. Hoping for another bird walk early tomorrow, and hoping to get rid of this pesky (not awful) cold, too.

Last night we went out for Mexican food and margaritas. I like going with friends better than husband, because I LOVE the table side made guacamole, but my husband won’t eat it.
Today was chores day, including cleaning a big section of the grout on our kitchen tile floor. Husband helped (Yeah - that was a first).
Tomorrow we go on our last “practice” bike ride before we ride the Great Allegheny Passage trail from Pittsburgh to Cumberland Maryland starting next weekend.

@1214mom you win next weekend already!!

Thanks. I think we will ride about 40 or so miles a day. We can easily ride 40 miles, but I don’t know about doing it 4 days in a row.

This weekend is quiet which is not a bad thing. Hubby is in Barcelona at a conference. Oldest finally moved back out after being home for 5 months in between undergrad and a post-bacc program so it’s just me and the 2 high schoolers. I have to do laundry and make sure middle child makes more progress on the Common App. I recently discovered “Barry” on HBO which is hilarious.

Next weekend will be fun for me. My niece in Texas has been raising a puppy for guide dogs for the blind for the past year and he’s coming to their main training center in the Bay Area next weekend for 2 months of intensive training before he gets matched with a permanent placement. My niece and sister are bringing him out and staying with us for the weekend. It will be sad for them to say goodbye to him, though.

After 36 hours of airport hell getting into and out of O’Hare, D has finally arrived at her new home on the west coast. So I’ve mostly been obsessing on alternative flights, furniture delivery, and staring at flight tracker.

Mr. is back home! We went to Costco followed by wine tasting at the garage wineries on the way home. Petted a lot of dogs and chatted with some very nice folks. Good times. No plans for tomorrow. Maybe some work around the yard.

Gorgeous weekend here…but sadly the last weekend our beach club is open until May. I spent the day at the lake today, and will do the same for part of the afternoon tomorrow.

My pharmacy finally has the Shingrix shot…but I’m waiting until Monday afternoon to get it. Don’t want to spoil a weekend with a sore arm or flu symptoms.

Dropped dogs at their boarding kennel for the weekend yesterday morning, trial run for a longer trip we’re taking in a few weeks. Good timing for a day trip to see older son. Lunch, art museum, dinner out, some relaxed time at his place, and home. Wonderful visit.

Tomorrow we’re going to the cemetery to check the engraving on in-laws’ stone, then stopping by my mother’s apartment to pick up a few things she asked for on way to visit her at rehab hospital. Then something indulgent for the evening, not sure what yet.

Had a busy day yesterday. Closed the pool-something we don’t usually do until late October. Especially painful since here in CT it was a beautiful summer like day. Then, babysat for out grandson while D and SIL went to a wedding.

Why did we close the pool early, you ask? Because today we’re on our way to our beach house where we’ll spend a couple weeks! ? Right now we’re on mile 378 of an 850 mile drive. Can’t wait to get there!

Beach trip = heaven - have fun @JustaMom5465 !

In Durham, NC for a family wedding at Duke Gardens, then heading down to Charleston, Savannah, and over to Augusta to visit our son and see his new apartment/life. We were hoping for some fall weather but, nope, it’s 90 degrees here (feels like 95). It’s only 79 back in AZ. :frowning:

We had an odd September rain here in So Cal yesterday so we actually had a lazy day and watched a couple of movies and grilled steaks last night with a great bottle of French wine. H wants to go take pictures of the Blue Angels at the air show today. I’m going to bake a blueberry pie before we go.

Another weekend of soccer here.

Yesterday, I coached 3 games, had dinner at the Dogfish Alehouse and watched the Washington Spirit beat the Carolina Courage.

Today, I’ve taught Sunday school and coached 1 game. Remaining on the schedule is coaching again, having a chat about some admin stuff and watching DC United. Dinner will be at our neighborhood Mexican joint

Going to Flower World! Then, depending on what we find, we will either plant our “loot” or simply do some yard work.

Just got back from along weekend. S21 didn’t have school Friday and wanted to do a college tour at a school about an hour from S19’s campus. It was S19’s Family Weekend, so S21 and I drove up Friday morning, took the college tour, then headed for the hotel near S19’s school. Dh and D23 took the train up yesterday morning and met us on campus. Spent the day at the school, then went out to dinner with one of S19’s suitemates and his parents. First time we met them, really nice family. S19 seems to have adjusted well as a freshman, has a nice group of friends, and is very happy.

After dropping Dh off at an airport near S19’s campus for a two week business trip, I made the 5 hour trip home with my younger two. Exhausting few days so looking forward to curling up with a book tonight.

When I got home, I noticed a crapload of dead leaves on the lawn due to drought here - leaves don’t normally fall this early so tomorrow I’ll spend the day doing yard work.

Went to see my mother in rehab hospital. Had to step out of the room for a minute – she’s recovering from a broken hip, is feeling understandably fretful, and took it out on me. Happy yoga breathing and a dose of empathy got us through the rest of the visit on a nice note.

Then down to cemetery and very very pleased, in-laws’ grave marker engraving turned out beautiful.

Took in and folded the line-dried laundry I’d started this morning. It shouldn’t be this warm!

Creeped on the boarding kennel’s Facebook page and squealed and shared pictures they posted of our dogs. I never did this when my sons were away at school.

Late with the report: Drove up on Friday to have dinner with my sibs, dad and aunt; attended a grade school reunion event on Saturday - catching up with old friends on the new things in their lives; Sunday brunch with sister and niece before heading home.

I’m leaving at 3 am Friday to drive 500 miles to Susquehanna University for Parents Weekend! My youngest is a senior and I’ve never been to a parents weekend for any of my kids, so I figured I should this time. I will get to meet her boyfriend, her first ever. D has also been named an SU scholar due to her high GPA (kind of surprising, since she wasn’t that strong a student in high school).

I’m really looking forward to it, because SU always does things well. They have a lot of activities and seminars on the schedule.

One funny thing - I signed up for a bagel breakfast, but then got an email that it’s really intended for Jewish students! They hadn’t made that clear on the sign-up page. D is 1/8 Jewish, but she said she would feel a little awkward going.

Last weekend we were visiting my family. Rough visit all around and super happy to be home.

This coming weekend is Fall Break and D will be home for 4 days. Hooray!!! Lots of cooking and hiking planned.
