Helping my kid, who is researching outside scholarships for supplementing school acceptances.
Working on precast concrete drawings for a new athletic facility at Wentworth Institute of Technology. Our vacation plus being sick the last few days means I’m behind. I don’t mind. It’s nice having so much work
Working, cleaning, furniture shopping for a family room side table and bedside tables, attending a symphony concert, going on a hike, filling out conservatorship papers ![]()
I work on Saturdays so that’s where I will be today.
My youngest is home for spring break with a friend from college who has never been to the East Coast. I took them to NYC for two days earlier the week, and they’ve gone into DC twice this week. They fly back to school early tomorrow morning so tonight we are having a nice homecooked meal that DH is making while I’m at work.
Tomorrow will be an early morning wake up, esp with the time change, to get the girls to the airport. A second trip to airport in the afternoon to drop off DH for a business trip. I’m running on empty after two weeks of nonstop work/travel so looking forward to relaxing tomorrow and Monday with some alone time (my “weekends” are Sun/Mon).
Not much today. Need to get off my lazy bum and go run.
However, tomorrow we are attending an annual Oscar watch party!! So much fun! The hosts go all out setting up a red carpet and backdrop, hiring a photographer, and decorating the interior of their home with all sorts of movie posters. The husband is outside on the red carpet and livestreams the interviews of arriving guests inside on the TV. Everyone brings nibbles and some kind of bubbly to share. Everyone is encouraged to go, “all out,” on attire and really get dressed up. I’m so excited because I found an obnoxiously neon pink dress at Nordstrom Rack for only 25 bucks! So, I’ll be channeling Barbie, though it doesn’t work very well since I am a brunette. I do have some, “Arctic blondes,” however!
Oh my gosh, how fun!!! Would love to see a photo of your pink dress find! Rack is perfectly for those occasions!
Going to northern New Hampshire where there is possibly a winter storm warning.
My BIL lives in Arlington and is an avid metal and fossil-hunter. I’m assuming he knows this spot, but I’ll mention the next time I talk to him.
Headed to the gym after I get off CC. It’s a lifting day. Then to get my hair colored/cut. Bringing home a favorite dinner that’s near my hair salon. Hit the hot tub and enjoy the evening.
Tomorrow my S26 has a rock climbing competition about an hour away. My parents live in that town, so we will have lunch with them after, then head home for errands, homework and dinner.
Tell him there were two huge shark vertebrae halfway up a cliff that were on the verge of falling, lol. You’re not allowed to climb or dig directly from the cliffs so all we could do was look at them with envy.
Rainy day. Some house cleaning, some recumbent biking, some vegetable stock making.
I got to spend the day hanging out with a friend’s puppy while she had a work thing. Pooch and I are both exhausted!
I spent part of the day driving to the doctor’s office and being seen. But they got me in and out very quickly! Turns out I have a small perforation in my ear drum along with an ear infection. The perforation will heal, but my hearing will be severely affected for four weeks! It is giving me sympathy for people who are hard of hearing. What a pain! I have to ask DH to repeat just about everything.
Whatever illness you picked up you got a whopper of one!
Well, it’s a good lesson never to fly with a cold!
Saw Daniel Radcliffe and Jonathan Groff on Broadway in “Merrily We Roll Along”, followed by dinner at Butter. A good weekend.
Did next to nothing today. Tomorrow I will meet a good friend at an elevator at the Atlantic-Pacific-Barclay subway station in downtown Brooklyn and we’ll go to Chinatown. I’ll show her around my usual haunts: favorite soup dumplings restaurant, lovely little Burmese-Tibetan gift shop, fruit and vegetable vendors, etc. Then to the International Center for Photography on the Lower East Side.
We just left. We were not impressed. The place felt run down and the servers were not particularly friendly. Our table was cute but so squishy! Many Americans would not fit at all.
The portions were huge - probably 4 x the size of my usual dinner. And I wouldn’t say it wasn’t amazing. I think I would have been much happier if I had just ordered the pretzel appetizer and dessert. We didn’t eat dessert since we already left half the entree. (And we NEVER have leftovers from restaurant food.) But those desserts did look really good.
I liked my meal at ihop last night much better. I probably just built it up in my head too much over the last 30+ years.
But it was a bucket list item. We can now say we’ve been
Our NH trip was excellent! Terrific birthday party for a 93 year old friend. Just a lot of fun. The drive back and forth was very easy. And…it only snowed less than an inch despite the winter storm warning. Good!
