Whatcha Doing This Weekend, August 28-30

Allowing Friday night to be part of the weekend.

Any late summer ventures? An ice cream cone that needs to be bought? Book or TV time?

Clearly I’m looking to live through others experiences because I have little official on the agenda. HOPING for a cool down so I can actually enjoy being outside. Will visit my mom tomorrow less than an hour away. May catch up on a few work items so that next week can be a little lighter.

Share your at home, outside or out and about plans - or celebrate a couple of days of NO PLANS!

If our heat wave breaks I have to do some weeding. :frowning:

Not sure. yet I retired a few weeks ago… every day is Weekend

I just set up my new desktop and monitor but am not booting it until my CS son can guide me through any issues or decisions. He is working so it has to wait until the weekend. It does look lovely just sitting there! I am keeping my 11-year-old computer running until I feel completely comfortable using the new one. Also I have to figure ot what I want to do about MS Office.

Astonishingly both the desktop (from Office Depot via Dynamex) and the monitor (from Amazon via UPS) arrived timely (actually early) and in good condition. Tomorrow I will see if they actually work.

I don’t have work on Fridays thanks to COVID, so the weekend begins Thursday night! I descaled both the coffee maker and the Keurig, and they both got a new filter. How is that for exciting?

I’m starting a new homeschooling consulting business so I will be working on my website all weekend. It’s the first free weekend I’ve had in a while, so I’m actually looking forward to no plans besides that. I’m also looking forward to a day of (forecasted) rain. We are in drought conditions and I love summer rainstorms.
If I have time I may tackle the last of the four puzzles we bought at the beginning of Covid. It’s a mystery puzzle, so what’s on the box is “before” the crime, and what you actually create with the puzzle is “after,” and you have to solve the mystery.

We are going to happy hour tonight at a nearby restaurant with all outdoor seating and plenty of social distancing. I’m looking forward to doing something that feels normal. D1 is coming over to our house tomorrow while her bf is golfing so she can leave their 8 month old pup in his crate for a bit since he doesn’t have to be in it much with her and her bf both wfh. We will go for a walk to the beach tomorrow while D1 is here.

If we don’t get rained out, my mother is going to pick me up in Manhattan to go out to Brooklyn for an outdoor dining with my girls and their SOs and my grand puppy. If it gets rained out then my mom and I will go back out to NJ to spend some quality time. We probably will pick up some lobsters for Sat night. On Sun we will go to my father’s graveside to pay our respect. It’s a busy weekend.

Lobster feast in the backyard tonight with my child and their partner before they venture home tomorrow. I made some homemade marshmallows so we’ll be firing up the fire-it and doing s’mores for dessert. Maybe some ping pong or a board game as well.

Rest of the weekend, I need to crank out some political related work with looming deadlines.

Working on detailing precast concrete for a new hotel that is coincidentally near us, in Portland. Usually the projects I work on are out-of-state, so this will be cool.

Tomorrow, I am going shopping for baby things with my D. I will be going to S’s apartment tonight, tomorrow & Sunday to feed (and play with) his cat, while he & his GF spend the weekend on the other side of the state. H is rebuilding shelves in the garage, which is really hard work … so I will probably do some junk-tossing in the basement in order not to feel too useless.

Dinner on the patio tonight, music and candles with DH. Tennis tomorrow morning, golf w DH on Sunday. This is how we spend most of our weekends lately:)

Working tonight because GS has been with us all week so I am both exhausted and very behind in my work. Tomorrow we’ll drive two hours upstate to pick up D who has been camping and hiking the Adirondacks with a friend for the past week, Sunday we’ll head to Queens to see S2 and DIL and drop off the laptop he ordered to our house. I love my kids, am happy to see them, always and anytime, but maybe next weekend we’ll have time to do something we choose!

Kayaking and hiking. So excited for cooler weather!

Spent part of my last hours at work this afternoon scheduling 16 use or lose PTO days . Friday night wine and dinner. Thunderstorms coming in tomorrow so my long run was rescheduled to Sunday (bonus it’s supposed to be cooler and less humid on Sunday).

Saturday plans: Sleep in (don’t get excited, for me that’s like 7:00- 7:30), try a different yoga class (zoom from my studio), maybe venture out to Target, laundry, read a library book. Zoom happy hour with a bunch of friends at 7.

Sunday: Long run. Make salad for this weeks lunches. Zoom and on line euchre with the kids (hopefully). Friends (1 couple) coming over for social distance take out dinner on the deck.

Same as every.single.day:

5-6AM Up, walk
6-9 Lounge, coffee, breakfast
9-10 Personal ablutions
10-12 Catch up on CC, read
Noon-ish Lunch
1-5PM Read, nap, hobbies/fritter
5-7PM Cocktails,* dinner
7-10PM PBS/Netflix binge, read
10-10:30 Bedtime

Lather, rinse, repeat.

(*Vitual cocktails with friends/family several times a week.)

I’m having friends over Sunday night. We normally go out to restaurants, but I don’t want to share a table with them (or anyone outside of my household) during Covid. So I’ll grill with my mask on, set up a bunch of tables outside, all 6 plus feet apart, and serve everyone. I’m so glad to have this option. What are we going to do this Winter?

I co-ran a coaching session for new soccer coaches showing what a socially distanced practice looks like. A series of thunderstorms cut that short.

Saturday is up in the air. I’m possibly planning soccer in the morning and running a session in the afternoon. But if we get more storms than I’m not sure what I’m doing.

Sunday will be chores followed by dinner at our neighborhood Mexican place

Social distanced outside evening tonight with friends with whom I have season tickets for a local theater. The theater was supposed to email us a secret password so we could watch their current virtual show but no password was received. So watched Hamilton on the screen set up in the backyard. Tomorrow I might go to the cat food store. I made a pattern from a top I like and cut it out of some fabric I forgot I had. I’ll sew it up tomorrow and see if I like it.

I’ll probably watch some Holmes and/or Maine Cabin Masters sometime this weekend as those are my current faves. Might make salmon cakes for dinner. Might go to the farm stand for more watermelon and cateloup.

A bit disappointed that my visit with my kids will most likely be rained out.
