Whatever happened to "tight?"

Yeah he’s not me. But, you’re right. I never hear that phrase around here. Legit is the buzzword.

That’s what’s up/that’s legit took its place. “Legit” is dumb as shi.t, imo.

tight like a tiger

That was so elementary school.

A few months ago I heard the high school musical people saying it in their commercials. I’m pretty sure that killed it. Just a guess though.

I say it some times…

A lot of these slang words are sexual “innuendos”.

Suck. Tight.

I’m too tired to think of any more…

I hate how everyone has to turn a word and relate it to sexual.

When you say “that sucks” you are thinking that’s stupid/lame. Nothing sexual. So, I disagree.

Its just short for that sucks my bleep.

The last time I checked many males would like such a thing o.O
that sounded weird lol. By saying “That sucks” your saying that’s lame. Hmm the prior doesn’t mesh with the later. I never think of that sucks my bleep. But of course what your saying is true. I know that, but…

Besides whatever the heck I just said above, I mean that sucks and tight were indeed sexual innuendos. However, now we just say it and it doesn’t mean anything of the sort, really.

Or I say it and it means nothing of the sort.

A word’s origin is its origin, whether the eventual usage relates to that or not. Obviously if I say “damn it” I don’t really mean that “it” should be doomed to hell. Likewise with calling someone a jerk or saying “**** you.” And “that sucks” really is a reference to a sex act, whether you mean it or even think about it. It’s not that people have to “relate it to sexual,” it’s actually that sexual innuendo often comes into more general use.

What the hell I say it erryday

“That sucks” is definitely a phrase rooted in the sexual act. You can make the same case for “That blows.” Of course since it’s become so common, the actual meaning is kinda glossed over.

Now that I’m thinking about it, I use “that sucks” a lot. I don’t think that’ll disappear from our language for a while.

“tight” died out a while ago where I live,

but i still use it :D
