What's for dinner at your house tonight?

Turkey loaf, with asparagus, mac and cheese … and whipped up a batch of chili for tomorrow night because I get home late!

Last night I had my seafood stew again. The base from the freezer to which I added chowder fish and a half dozen mahogany clams, which opened in the broth. Yum…

Tonight, I had options with and without power. Had power, so I pan fried pork chops. Dinner tonight and a couple for the fridge that I could eat cold tomorrow if I had to.

We have been spared so far - i made a stew of fresh geen beans, button mushrooms, sweet onions, carrots, a can of chopped tomatoes, a carton of diced super firm tofu and a box of low sodium veggie broth with rosemary and a pinch of smoked paprika

PS in the crockpot

Homemade spaghetti sauce in the crockpot. Made so much, froze three dinners worth. Should come in handy.

Never lost power and have lots of good things in freezer/frig, but I doubt DH will be home anytime in the next week or so for me to bother cooking anything. Hoping my sister, who lost power early yesterday afternoon, will come up and stay for awhile, so at least I have a reason to cook.

Take out tonight!

Goat cheese on Triscuits with a glass of Chianti. Halloween candy for dessert.

Tonight is a good meal - it’s from a cookbook of “home cooking” by a 3-star restauranteer in Munich. It’s basically coq au vin using beer instead of wine and very tasty. I didn’t have celery root so I used a combo of turnips and celery and it seemed fine. I used some home brew from a neighbor. We also have a radish and carrot salad using black CSA radishes.

We are going to friends after dinner. They will have mushrooms and apple pie and wine. I’m bringing a Gourmet recipe of walnuts baked in the oven with butter, rosemary, and cayenne. No idea if they are any good!

I am making spaghetti tonight! I was going to bake halloween cupcakes but realized after I mixed the batter by hand and made a huge mess separating the egg whites that BF got the wrong thing and they had milk. :frowning: So my garbage disposal gets cupcakes instead of us. Oh well, the spaghetti will be good.

Halloween candy!

I just discovered Orange Muscat Champagne Vinegar from Trader Joe’s and love it on greens that have fresh fruit added. Tonight I made a hearty beef stroganoff and served it with a salad of Romaine, fresh pears, kiwi and pomegranate seeds (fall fruit from my CSA box) tossed with the oil and this orange vinegar dressing.

Texas chili with homemade tortillas (not by me - by a neighbor!). Late night snack appears to be wine and leftover Butterfingers.

Feijoada, traditional Brazilian black bean dish with sausage and pork parts, served over rice with orange slices and salsa, and a lettuce salad. Feijoada with oranges is our family’s traditional Halloween meal because of the black-and-orange color scheme. It’s traditionally served with collard greens and farofa, a toasted manioc flour, but tonight we skipped those accoutrements and went for a simplified version.

Butterfingers or Kit Kats?

Discuss.

This is the first year we have virtually no leftover candy. The International Space station flew overhead last night, so while I was outside watching it, with candy bowl in hand, lots of kids came up to me and I jsut kept putting handfuls of candy in their bags. I probably refilled the same kids bags multiple times. So, no cany for meeeee tonight.

Have leftover chicken marinara and vegetables made in the crockpot. Will out it over pasta or rice.

Kit Kats.

I have bags of candy left. Tootsie pops, tootsie rolls and Smarties (my favorite.) I had nine kids last night.

Going out to dinner tonight with a friend. I am tired of being alone.

Kit Kats - Butterfingers are almost too sweet and so you can only eat limited amounts.

We closed the door at 7:58 with only one piece of candy left - almost 200 kids!

Have 1/2 of a rotisserie chicken in the refrig - trying to think of something to do with the other half for dinner tonight…

Kit Kats, definitely. We have lots of candy left too. Only 9 kids showed up at my house (do we live in the same neighborhood, emilybee?). We expected more than that since we didn’t lose power this year and we figured the kids would be excited about trick or treating since they missed out last year when we had no power.

Still finishing off food we pre-cooked in case we lost power.

Butterfingers
