^^Interesting, ELY! I never would have thought of that…I made too much hamburger meat, so we’ll be eating it in various forms for the next few days. I have some Lentil soup I just made, wonder how hamburger meat would add to the flavor of that soup? I’ll just have to give it a try!

It was my youngest son’s 18th birthday so we went to Red Robin. Tonight it is chicken chili in the crockpot. My husband is hosting WWII night at our house with a bunch of his friends coming over so it will be all ready for them.

16 ounce rib eye steak and yellow squash on the grill. Grocery store had Choice bone-in rib eye on sale for $5.99 a pound. Couldn’t resist bringing one of those bad boys home.

I have one kid sick with the flu and another on junior year post finals burnout so I made chicken and rice soup with homemade stock and cornbread. Comfort food for upset tummies and zombie brained teens.

That makes be think of the wonderful book Chicken Soup with Rice by Maurice Sendak.

In January it’s so nice
while slipping on the sliding ice
to sip hot chicken soup with rice
Sipping, once, sipping twice
sipping chicken soup with rice

I love cornbread too especially if it is made with buttermilk.

Ahh. I must have read “Chicken Soup with Rice” a million times to my little ones.

Last night got creative. Fried some bacon. Then chopped it. Then braised fresh spinach in the bacon fat. Then chopped it. Then cooked some spaghetti, drained, and chopped it. Then put it all in a jar of marinara and a bit of heavy cream. Threw in some chopped olives. Pretty yummy.

I’m thinking chicken enchiladas tonight with some fresh salsa.

^ ooh . . . homemade enchiladas are fabulous, haven’t made them in ages, can make ahead. Thanks for the great idea, abasket!

Definitely, brussel sprouts with feta. I have been dreaming about them for couple days, but have been lazy, so had left over cold chicken instead which was also very very good. And yesterday, I had a treat of smoked mackerel (definitely did not spell it correctly). Well, if I am lazy again to microwave my brussel sprouts, I will have this fish again, it was very very good, did not even add wasabi to it, did not want to kill the taste. I probably would have entire fish if I did not force myself to stop. H. refused to touch it, seeing how much I loved it, he said, all is mine, yahoo!

I’m trying a new recipe tonight and can’t wait to see the expressions on my kids’ faces when I tell them the name of the recipe;)

That’s hilarious…:)

Hubby just called, asking what’s for dinner. I had to repeat the name of the recipe twice, to which he replied, “Oh good. Haven’t had one of those in a while.”

I forgot to label the fish that DH and DS2 caught over Christmas break and I can’t remember what it is. This recipe seems like it could handle whatever it is. I doubled the curry and used the whole can of coconut milk. The sauce is simmering now and it smells incredible

^^That sounds delicious, lt. I just might try the recipe this weekend - have been trying to serve seafood 2-3 times a week and and this recipe sounds like a winner .

Help how do you start a new thread??!!

Cioppino, with shrimp, scallops, and mussels.

Sloppy Joe

Chicken leek pie. The recipe was in People magazine a while back and one of my kids saw it and requested. It has now become a favorite of all three. I was kind of afraid of leeks prior to this and they aren’t nearly as scary as I had thought :)

I’m going to make chicken enchilladas for tomorrow. They sound delicious

Reservations. I have made dinner 5 nights in a row. And every night I had the joy (yes, joy…not kidding) of our kids inviting a friend or two. The only night it got challenging was the night that I had made rack of lamb. Planned on five and had 7. It worked…and our table was filled and dinner lasted for 4 hours…including dessert. Come anytime.

Yesterday’s soup was devoured, even by fluboy so tonight we’re having pizza, which hubby is picking up. Too wiped to cook. If it were up to me, we’d have popcorn. And wine.
