What's for dinner at your house tonight?

I (conveniently) forgot to defrost something for dinner tonight, so we had takeout. Yum. I LOVE not having to prepare anything every once in awhile! ;)

My mom made something from her father which apparently my father has loved forever but I haven’t ever had - Brisket with Kasha Varnishkes. I have to admit it was okay. The meat was really good. I just can’t do the kasha thing mixed with bow ties. And it took forever to make. I hate it when the house smells sooooo good and you have to wait 5 HOURS for the meal.

Miso- glazed salmon with wilted spinach

Tonight’s dinner! A restaurant!

That rigatoni looks fantastic! Did you stuff all those noodles? I don’t think I have that kind of patience.

Brilliant. Sublime. I want that dinner tonight!

My 17 yr old son has finally reached fast food saturation. He has been so busy that, instead of eating the quick sandwich that I offered, he’s been going out for fast food after school. He announced last night that he wants to eat every meal at home this weekend. So, looks like we’re having his favorites - steak frites tonight (may add some sea scallops on the grill for me and H) and spaghetti bolognese tomorrow.

Laketime, I used my Pampered chef decorator tube thingy - put the ricotta mixture in there and it was a pretty quick process - my D helped me - really good - I did turn the oven to 400 though - 350 seemed too low.

I think I’m going to make chicken soup with matzoh balls for tonight.

On the menu tonight is macaroni with homemade gravy (most of you would say “sauce”) with meatballs. Looking forward to it. There’s four of us - H, S1(17), S2(13) and me.

I changed my mind. It’s supposed to be icky weather so I’m making crock pot Mac and cheese! Hoping we don’t get botulism from the outdated canned evaporated milk!

Chicken stir-fry over brown rice.

Homemade quiche - ham, cheese, mushroom, onion, spinach.

We just had veal chop, white string beans, sauteed spinach and baked sweet potato.

The other night when we were at a restaurant in Chelsea, H had macaroni and cheese. He thought if they were ballsy enough to have it on the menu it must be pretty good. He was right. I had lobster and he had mac and cheese.:)

Leftover braised pork made into sandwiches with baby spinach, whole grain mustard and chutney on whole wheat rolls; a slew of roasted vegetables (plum tomatoes with balsamic, rutabaga, asparagus, cauliflower, and carrots); and homemade pickled red onions and pickled beets.

We are all still stuffed from copious amounts of ballpark food at the Red Sox spring training game we went to this afternoon. Nothing but lemonade for dinner!

That sounds like a blast, laketime!
My H left earlier for Ds college town to do some skiing with her tomorrow.
I contemplated going to an auction, to hear live music or see a movie, but I think I might take a bath & rent a movie while eating ice cream & peaches.
( I had a grilled ham & cheese sandwich on rosemary bread for dinner)

Wish I was down there in sunny, warm FL right now.

We made coq au vin which was heavenly.

Is anyone making a special Oscar night dinner? I am looking for healthy low calorie ideas.

I know low carb is the craze right now but I just don’t want any meat in any form for dinner tonight. I may make scrambled eggs, soy sausages, hash browns.
