i want to drop APUSH, because with the honors classes im taking im afraid my gpa will drop below a 3.0 - we use a 12 point grading scale
My classes are :
Honors organic chem
Honors physics
Precalc
Advance English 12 (counts as an honor)
APUSH (this /would/ be global events)
Choir
Botany
Would dropping APUSH hurt my chances of getting accepted at some colleges?
My school only offers 4 APs, and 3 you can take your senior year, I only got into APUSH
I never took any APs or honors classes besides advance sciences.
What colleges are you aiming for?
Why is there no foreign language in that schedule?
Colleges look at your strength of schedule based on what your school offers. If your school does not have that many APs you won’t be punished for it.

ECs : not that impressive, but 1 year varsity soccer (first year having the sport), 4 years choir but one and half years in A Capella choir (we’re state and internationally known, and we have after school rehearsals)
How likely is it that you won’t get at least a B in APUSH ?
If a B is unlikely then see if you can get an honors social science.
I think you’d be fine, except for U Wisconsin and perhaps Michigan State, but since you have such a talent with A Capella, use it for universities that may give you scholarships for it, such as Concordia Moorhead and Luther. I think they’re free to apply and offer an excellent education.Have you reached level 2 , 3 or 4 in your chosen foreign language?
@MYOS1634 we don’t have a lot of honors, besides honors precalc - im taking all the honors offered to senior. I took 3 years of Spanish and got up to Spanish 2. I am also sure I will struggle in APUSH, and it’s already over because I switched it for creative writing.
Check out Luther and Concordia Moorhead, which are academically stronger than NMU, CMU, etc., have better graduation rates, and will likely value you for your choral talents.
In Michigan, look into Albion and Alma, plus Grand Valley State.
Don’t apply to UWisconsin, but why not apply to Wisconsin Eau Claire or Milwaulkee, or Alverno?
@MYOS1634 I don’t want to go that far, I’d love to though. I want to go to a big state university if I go out-of-state, that’s why I’m only thinking of applying to UWisconsin. I plan to be a psychology major so my choral background would just (hopefully) count as an EC. I also have a major case of fomo so i really want to go to a college with a big undergrad population.

If you want a big state university out of state, check whether your state has any reciprocity agreement with other states so that you don’t pay the OOS premium. Going OOS often means not getting any financial aid if you choose a public university.
Considering your curriculum and stats, you could attend any other UWisconsin university, beside Madison: Eau Claire, Oshkosh, Milwaulkee, Green Bay…
At Luther and Concordia, you could do ANY major you want, but your choral background would help you gain admission and get a better scholarship. You could continue singing as an EC and major in psychology (or anything else) with better odds of graduating in 4 years.
While smaller colleges may not have all the entertainment options that large colleges do, you go to college to study and graduate, right?
The 4-year college graduation rates for CMU are 21%, 24% at WMU, 20% for NMU.
In other words, 75- 80% need 5 or 6 years to graduate, or don’t graduate at all. That’s staggering odds against your graduating.
At Concordia Moorhead, 66% graduate in 4 years. At Luther, 67%. It means odds are very high you’ll find the support to help you graduate in 4 years. You should at least consider them, since they’re high-quality and your singing gives you an “in” that you wouldn’t otherwise have.
