<p>My mom wants me to do an SAT tutoring program, I score around 2100 range now. Which one(s) are the best and which completely suck?</p>
<p>Once you are in the 2100+ range, taking a course is only pretty much useless because all they teach you are the basic things. </p>
<p>You should consider self studying with purely the BB.</p>
<p>BTW, Sylvan SAT Prep is crap.</p>
<p>I was expecting that kind of answer. My mom said it might be worth it still because theres a chance of increasing my score from it. She said her friend’s child raised 200 points from taking a course and ended with a 2290. Plus, she said Ill do much better because other people just dont care when taking the course and I do</p>

<p>Kaplan sucks from what I have heard.</p>
<p>But at a 2100 no tutoring program will help you that much since your score will largely be dependent on how much you work, not the basic concepts as these programs teach.</p>
<p>I took the Kaplan course for 700 dollars and I thought it was a pretty big waste of time. They just teach you the basics. Kaplan does have a a policy of giving you your money back if your score doesn’t go up by 100 points, but it’s just a bunch of bull. The first diagnostic test they give you is more difficult then the last test they give you so basically everyone can get a 100 pt “jump”. On the first diagnostic test I personally thought I had written a very good essay, but they gave me a 8/12. On the last diagnostic test I thought my essay was mediocre and they gave me a 12/12. If your SAT score is above 2000 I would suggest self study rather than the course. It’s basically impossible not to fall asleep in the class because the topic one is going over is stuff like how many degrees are in a circle.</p>

I am an international student and score in the range of 2150-2200 (CR 620-670 ,M 740-790 ,WR (760-800 ) .I decided to spend a lot of money on tutoring programs so that i improve my reading to 700.Guess what ,it doesnt work.
All the tutors told me were strategies I already knew.They explained me how I need to look for the correct answers in the passage,without being biased to the content of the text.They gave me some vocabulary words to memorize - words ,I already knew.I am hoping to score 680-700 in June .However,I will be glad if I get a 650-680.A friend of mine got into Harvard with 670 on CR (2260 total)
So,man I just dont think the tutors can help me.If you were at the 1500-1800 range,you obviously lacked some knowledge that the tutors could explain you.But in your range ,all you need is practice.And I wouldnt give tutors money to watch me how I do practice tests and then check the answers using answer keys.I can do this on my own 
But if you think you will be more comfortable when you know that you have spent money on your SAT campaign ,go for it ;)</p>

<p>The courses are for those who are scoring in a much lower range than 2100. The best way to raise a 2100 is to self study and take lots of practice tests, preferably real tests from the Bluebook. If you really feel you need help, get a private tutor. The courses will be covering so much info you already know, it will be a waste. Also, check out the Xiggi method on CC. Just do a search for Xiggi SAT.</p>
<p>If you want to throw away a thousand dollars, fine. You don’t have to take our advice. But once again, you don’t need a prep course. Get the BB and PRACTICE!</p>
<p>I went to this place called Elite Educational Institute when I was a freshman in High school. Within five months, it bumped me up 300 points, but it was expensive as hell.
There’s also this place called C2 Education, that’s apparently guaranteed 2400 or something, but that’s also expensive. But these places might only be in California… I don’t really know.
Where you’re at, best way is to self study and practice like hell.</p>

<p>Well I took testmasters and I liked it a lot. It helped me fix the mistakes that I was ALWAYS making. My scored raised more than 300 points, just like they guaranteed. Your score is pretty good, but it WILL increase (if not just by a bit) if you take testmasters.</p>
<p>My opinion is to not go to any well known franchises (Kaplan, Sylvan, Princeton Review, etc.) but go to the local less known ones.</p>

<p>What do you mean by BB…the college board offical study guide? also, what do you mean by CC…the college confidential website or is there another study book you are recommending?</p>
