I am absolutely frustrated with FASFA. We have an error message in the FASFA summary that says one of the schools is FASFA ineligible. FASFA had us check every code, and they are all correct. I don’t know why they had us checking every code, we used their drop down menu. The UMD portal says the information hasn’t been received. So we contacted FASFA. FASFA said the information should have been received by the school now. We contacted UMD, and they said their portal won’t be updated until the end of April or May 1st so they don’t know if they’ve received our information or not. We told FASFA about the error message, and they told me to wait and see which schools don’t get the information or contact all of them. Wait and see? They have no idea which school is causing the error message and told us to remove and re-add the schools as a correction if we didnt want to wait and see. But I’m worried that’s going to mess something up and slow things down even more. Ugh. This process was never this difficult.
Finally, finally completely done and was able to do correction to add one of the schools that accepted D24.
The school additions I did the afternoon of April 11 processed on April 11. The one I did later that night has not processed yet.
Wow. George Mason just sent us an email letting us know that our FASFA needs to be reprocessed, but that we dont need to do anything, and FASFA will automatically reprocess it. I’m so glad we didnt listen to FASFA and remove and re-add everything. Who knows how that would’ve effected the timing. Thanks George Mason.
For clarity we didn’t change the same FAFSA twice. We have twins.
Delete (should have read subsequent post first!).
Good to hear. I was about to try to explain what happened & how you shouldn’t have to do anything - the school saved me an explanation!
I think we are definitely lucky in our home, our fasfa is all processed and our school sent our revised package out last week. I called yesterday because I was skeptical that they got everything they needed from the fasfa file they received but apparently it was complete with no issues.
my son’s FAFSA had been showing “processed” for weeks, then I went in yesterday just to add a school to the list and now it’s back to being under review. WTH?
It will be in review for a couple days - it means it’s being processed. Supposedly this stage is happening in the normal 2-3 day timeframe now.
but since it was processed previously, shouldn’t it have already been sent out to all the schools that were on the list? I only added one school, not sure why that would put it back under review. so weird.
Twin B’s got processed today. I added schools Thursday night.
Adding a school requires the FAFSA to be sent to the processor for the update to be processed. All schools on the list will receive this updated FAFSA - although they won’t see the school you added, they’ll be able to see whether you changed anything that they need to be concerned about. If you just added a school, they’ll see that you didn’t make any changes that concern them & all will be well (your FAFSA submission date remains the original submission date - that doesn’t change).
My daughter updated her signature & submitted. But we are not able school lists previously submitted & we are not able add new school .UCs need to be added. How do you go to school list? In her my activity section nothing showing up. Thanks.
She has to wait until the signature processes - it will take a couple days. As soon as that happens, she’ll be able to get back into her FAFSA & add schools.
Changes to Federal School Codes: If You Want to Add or Delete a School
If you want to make your FAFSA information available to an additional school after filing the FAFSA form, you may add that school’s Federal School Code.
Once your 2024–25 FAFSA form is processed, you can add or delete a school on your FAFSA form by doing the following steps:
-
Log in and go to your account Dashboard.
-
Select the submitted FAFSA form.
-
Select the processed FAFSA submission in the “My Activity” section.
-
Select the “Add or Remove Schools” button.
-
Search for the school by entering either the school code or the state, city, and/or school name and then select “Search.”
-
Select the school from the search results. The school’s Federal School Code will appear in the form.
-
Submit the update.
Finally got ours. Is the SAI per year or four years? We likely wouldn’t qualify for much if any aid, but the number they give seems really high…
Per year. And most schools won’t meet that.
Thank. you.We added UCS tonight.
It would’ve been nice to have gotten some kind of e-mail from FASFA that they are reprocessing ours, but the communication from FASFA for us has been zero. How did you hear about the reprocessing? I’m wondering when I’m supposed to know they’ve reprocessed everything.
Not trying to be picky…but it’s FAFSA.
Make sure you didn’t inadvertently transpose any code numbers
