yes, my assumption she applied for a FAFSA ID and according to her “is still waiting for it”. I know months back this was an issue since no one ever received an email that the ID was in place.
If she can sign in, she is all set. Has she tried to sign in?
I was going to suggest that which seems like the obvious thing for her to do but who knows if people are sitting around waiting for an email.
It’s like asking if someone made sure that the plug is securely plugged in on an appliance that isn’t working. You hate to come across like you’re condescending, but the truth is that often that’s the solution. In this case, the account may well be all set. If not, though, feel free to PM me so I can try to help troubleshoot.
Yay! Form processed today, submitted 1/2/24. I need to make some corrections, but I’m at a point where I’m wondering if it even matters.
Form was submitted Jan 3rd and processed today!
Our issue is that we need to add schools. I’m worried that when 50 billion people try to do that on April 1 it’ll be a mess. And we’ll be waiting on another delay.
Older son’s submitted 1/4 just processed a few hours ago. So 1/3 and 1/4 both done.
I saw a weird error message that says one of the schools listed isn’t Fasfa eligible, but all the school listed are? I’m hoping its a mistake that will correct itself when corrections are allowed.
Both of my kids have finally processed. Submitted 1/3 and 1/4. However my son needs to add additional schools and my daughter’s needs a correction made on it so we are still waiting!
MY FAFSA WAS JUST PROCESSED!!! Finally!
My SAI went down siginificantly from the email they sent me when I filled it out in December. It that better or worse?
Isn’t that a good thing?
I’m not really sure. I heard you don’t get any need based aid generally if SAI is greater than 5000 and now my SAI is just a bit over that, so I guess we’ll see.
I know, I wish we knew already. It is stressing me out with some schools wanting their decisions 5/1 still and others different days. How are we supposed to pick that quick if we don’t get the full picture?
Hope you end up with better than you were expecting!
Yep, it’s just been so confusing. How the federal government can’t get a basic calculation to work when they had years to get ready for it is beyond me. Hopefully next time they contract for tech development.
A given school is highly unlikely to require a student to have to make an enrollment deadline deposit if they don’t have a final financial aid package. That may entail you needing to contact the FA dept and ask for an extension though.
With that said, be realistic about what may be coming in some of these aid packages. For example, at many schools an OOS student isn’t going to get any need based aid at all, regardless what their SAI is (beyond what they qualify for from the Federal government.)
This isn’t the case at meet full need schools.
With an SAI slightly above 5K you may also qualify for a partial Pell grant from the Federal govt as well…can you see that in your FSA account/SAI details?
It dosen’t say anything on the website. My exact number is 7866 down from 12065 in December in the email from right after I filled it out. Can someone please let me know if that number is “good” for finanical aid. I know basically nothing about the finanical aid process.
True but my thought is that even OOS all of ours applied to are privates so hopefully we will get some more need aid. I could be wrong though.
I know one of ours that still had the 5/1 date did say they hoped to have our packages out in early April. But still feels like a quick turn around. Especially as some schools with a 6/1 date might come out later. I am just wanting to compare them all together so we can make the best decision. I sort of wish all the schools just said because of FAFSA we are changing the date to 6/1.
