Now, I love love lovee Christmastime and love all Christmas movies, from Lifetime to big budget.

My favorites have to be:
Elf
Home Alone
National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation
It’s a Wonderful Life
The Grinch
The Family Stone
While you were Sleeping (Christmas-y)
and tons of others!

I literally just got finished watching it on ABC Family, and it almost brought out tears, so I’m gonna say The Polar Express. Also, Deck the Halls, Home Alone, and Christmas with the Kranks.

A Christmas Story, by far.
But I also enjoy It’s a Wonderful Life and the original Miracle on 34th St. But it isn’t Christmas unless we can watch A Christmas Story.
Ho, ho, ho, kid.

My “brag” is that H (who was then my BF) and I saw A Christmas Story in the theater the weekend it was released. I think we’re part of a very small group…

That’s my fave, followed by It’s a Wonderful Life and Elf…

I love A Christmas Story too…always called “the BB gun movie” when my boys were little.

However, one of my big favorites that no one has mentioned is Holiday Inn (1942) with Bing Crosby, Fred Astair and twelve songs by Irving Berlin including White Christmas. It’s a great movie. I look for it on the old movie channels every Christmas.

My family has a thing for retellings of A Christmas Carol. We love Scrooged. Others we watch at least once a year: Scrooge (the musical version with Albert Finney - some terrific songs and great British actors like Alec Guiness and Edith Evans); A Muppet Christmas Carol with Michael Caine as Scrooge and Kermit as Bob Cratchit; and my favorite from childhood, Mr. Magoo’s Christmas Carol. Animation has come a long way but the Ghost of Christmas Future in that is still the scariest one I’ve ever seen.

I love Christmas in Connecticut and Holiday Inn, too. We like classic movies and a couple others from that era that are lots of fun are Bachelor Mother (Ginger Rogers and David Niven) and The Man Who Came to Dinner.

One of our two must-do Christmas Eve traditions is watching It’s a Wonderful Life.

Makes me cry every year. The story of the three wise men retold in a western film. One of John Waynes greatest roles and Pedro Armendariz is fantastic. Keep your eyes open when Ford recreates the annunciation with Pedro Armendariz and Mildred Natwick.Only Ford could use the opening of a covered wagon and a dead tree to evoke holy ground.
Here is the entire movie----keep your hankies close at hand. [3 Godfathers - YouTube](<a href=“3 Godfathers - YouTube”>3 Godfathers - YouTube)

Rapturously beautiful cinematography by Winton Hoch.
