What's your favorite movie/TV wedding?

My d2 was married last weekend (beautiful ceremony, great reception, love my SIL, everything’s good!). The night before, the bride and bridesmaids watched DVDs with a wedding theme, which got me to wondering … what would CCers say are their favorite movie or TV weddings? There are so many to choose from. Mine are:

The entire wedding sequence from “The Godfather.” Now there’s a wedding.

The wedding that didn’t happen in “In and Out” (Kevin Kline and Joan Cusack - funniest bride ever).

The wedding scene from “Best Years of Our Lives.” It’s a modest at-home wedding set after WWII; the groom was played by a returning vet who lost both arms during the war. Just beautifully done.

My favorite movie brides:

Claudette Colbert in “It Happened One Night.” She runs away from her own wedding, but that dress!

Audrey Hepburn in “Funny Face.” She’s only modeling the gown, but you know she and Fred Astaire will make it official.

Vivien Leigh in GWTW. Not a very happy bride, though.

William and Kate!

“The Graduate”

Father of the Bride! Glad it was all a success, frazzled1 =D>

Which Father of the Bride, @2VU0609‌? My favorite is the original - no one made a more beautiful bride than the young Elizabeth Taylor!

Can’t forget Luke & Laura’s wedding from General Hospital.

Looking forward to Castle & Beckett’s wedding this week!

The Philadelphia Story-- the one with Katherine Hepburn and Jimmy Stewart.

I like them both, but the remake is my preferred version because I have watched it multiple times with D. I agree about Elizabeth Taylor, but there’s something so real about Steve Martin and how he reacts throughout the whole planning the wedding process that makes me smile.

The Sound of Music… who doesn’t want a song playing about the bride being so problematic as she’s walking down the aisle?

Thanks, @2VU0609! (Time flies, as we know.) And I like both versions of Father of the Bride, too. I don’t think there was ever a more beautiful movie bride than Elizabeth Taylor in the original. But I love all the Martin Short shtick in the remake, and Steve Martin is excellent as a very real dad.

@teriwtt, I’m not a big Sound of Music movie fan, but I agree that the wedding processional scene with Julie Andrews in that phenomenal train is pretty wonderful.

@frazzled1 - when we were in Salzburg around ten years ago, I insisted we do ‘The Sound of Music’ tour, and one of the stops was the chapel where the wedding supposedly took place.

My all time favorite movie wedding was in Rachel Getting Married, the Jonathan Demme movie from a few years back. I’m talking about the actual wedding itself, not the hair raising family dynamics with the mother and sister. But all the wonderful music and colors were amazing. And I loved the ceremony.

I loved the remake of Father of the Bride. My friend’s house was used for the exterior! Her house has been used in lots of movies.

frazzled, I wish you would share more about the wedding, e.g. dress, color theme, venue, etc.

My Big Fat Greek Wedding. :)

Don’t throw things at me but the Twilight Breaking Dawn wedding in the outdoors with all the hanging wisteria was amazing!

no recommendations, but congrats!

“Four Weddings and a Funeral” (although it’s the funeral I particularly like, with the reading of Auden’s great poem.)

I’m another fan of Twilight series. 2 weddings-the bloody one and the other!

Oh, I forgot about Four Weddings and a Funeral. Great, great movie!

Another great wedding scene - Love Actually, when the band pops up by surprise and plays All You Need Is Love. I can watch that movie over and over again.

Just thought of another one (somewhat obvious)… Bridesmaids. I LOVE the Wilson Phillips song at the end of the ceremony. Makes me want to watch it over and over again so I, too, can dance like the bridesmaids.

Steel Magnolias - “my colors are blush and bashful”
