What's your favorite type of K-Cup coffee?

Reviving this thread because I’ve had some very yummy dark roasted k-cup coffees. Bought boxes of 18 on sale, at Big lots of all places for $9. Got a box of Caribou Obsidian and a box of Barista Prima Coffeehouse house blend. I love them, along with my French Roast, Italian Roast, Sumatra, etc. Have one milder blend, a Newman’s own house blend, for the occasional time I dont want strong, intense coffee. Any other recommendations for good med-dark roast coffees?

I’m not a big fan of straight coffee, so Cafe Expressions Cafe Mocha is what I drink every morning.

Ooh, never occurred to me to try Big Lots, thanks for the suggestion. We use Newman’s Bold that they sell at Costco. My fave was Tully’s Kona Bold before that.

So timely to see this thread again…was just at Costco checking out brands/prices because S’s suite ate bought a keurig for all to share. Yesterday I bought one of the refillable filters at kohls for when they want to use their own coffee - I bought the “solocup” not the keurig brand - says its made for k’s but was cheaper - anyone ever use this brand???

Also wondering what is a good price to Aim for per K cup - looks like definitely under .50 a cup? Costco had one brand for .32 a cup…can’t remember the brand…

The guys like caribou coffee from the shop so thinking to try some of that brand k-cup…anyone have a preferred place to buy caribou cups cheaper?

abasket,
Big Lots had Caribou coffee k-cups

The future of individual espresso machines is really upon us. Just as our phone system in the United States is years beyond what it routinely available abroad, we really have to rely on glorified junk. Compared to coffee systems such the Douwe Egberts and especially the Nespresso equipment, the Keurig machines are poor excuses. However, the best equipment has remained below the radar screen because of comparatively high costs and monopplistic practices of Nestle.

This is about to change as companies are now successfully breaking the Nestle/Nespresso stronghold. The results are that new machines are become available in the prosumer market, and just a step away from the consumer market.

Here’s an insight as to what we can expect shortly, and at competitive pricing.

No, it will not be the 20-100 dollars horrendous water pass-through system that lack the needed pressure to extract coffee properly, but there will be quite a few systems in the 200 to 500 dollars range. Over time, we will also see the end of the incompatble capsules among brands.

This one named Cremesso will on the cheap end, but still produce that foam that coffee fans love.

I have the nespresso recommended by the local Italian restaurant owner and we love it. The milk pitcher produces meringue like foam every time.

I bought Keurig’s 60 K-Cup Variety Pack this week at Bed, Bath & Beyond. It was $32 using a 20% discount coupon and conatins The Original Donut Shop Coffee, Green Mountain Nantucket Blend, Green Mountain Breakfast Blend, Newman’s Own Organics Special Blend, Timothy’s Decaf Columbian, Cafe Express Milk Chocolate Cocoa, Gloria Jean’s Hazelnut, Caribou’s Caribou Blend, Tully’s French Roast, Emeril’s Big Easy Bold, Celestial English Breakfast Black Tea, and Van Houtte French Vanilla.

I have the solocup. It often gives me a short cup so I just go up a size. I use both the solocup and the refillable Keurig brand filter. I never use the K cups.

We can almost smell it too. :)

Actually we have this one,the milk goes in a pitcher. even easier than the D290.
Toledo, what a nice variety! Hmm, may have to check that out…

GT, what do you mean by a short cup and going up one size?

Now that the holidays are behind us, I’m sure there is another wave of Keurig K-Cup gift recipients…

I am on my 2nd Keurig K-Cup machine from Costco. Water temp still an issue. Set at 192 but it is actually 170. I’m keeping this one, but wish the water temp was hotter.

I like the dark, extra-bold roasts the best. My top two so far are Green Mountain Double Black Diamond and Sumatran Reserve. I have Green Mountain Black Magic and Diedrich French Roast on order…

I am currently a Keurig K-Cup member and receive free shipping with an order over $45 plus get a 10% discount for being a member. Does anyone have a suggestion of where to purchase K-Cups online for less?

I share an office area with 6 support staff and 6-8 doctors who are hardly ever in their office - I’d love to convince them all to chip in $10 and get a Keurig machine and then we each buy our own cups- some drink coffee, some tea, some would go for hot chocolate or chai (me!). Then I wouldn’t have to cart my portable mug from home each day for my one cup of warm something!!!

Jshain–Amazon is a good place to get them in extra large packs

costco

I think this one is the best strong coffee for k-cups: [Barista Prima Italian Roast Keurig K-Cup Coffee - Green Mountain Coffee](http://www.greenmountaincoffee.com/Coffee/barista-prima-italian-roast-k-cup) The decaf is delicious too.

One thing to be careful of when buying the larger boxes is to check the date on the bottom. When we first received the Keurig about 6 years ago, I would frequent the k-cup forums, before CC took over my life  Many people would comment on ordering the large boxes from Amazon and other places only to find they were receiving expired or close to expiration k-cups.

We only use the k-cup a few mornings a week, we make a regular pot on the weekends when we are both up at the same time. As we like different flavors, decaf and regular, I prefer to buy the 12-18 k-cup boxes; usually at Bed, Bath, & Beyond or the grocery store when on sale and I have a coupon. While not the cheapest, this is the best way to get the variety we like and to make sure the dates are good. Otherwise I would buy the huge box at Costco!
