I saw many answers in the snob thread that were really pet peeves rather than things to be snobbish about. That got me thinking about what my pet peeves are, and I have two that stand out.
Improperly loading the dishwasher. Yes, there is a right and wrong way to do that, and apparently I'm the only one in the house who knows the correct way :-)
Leaving clothes in the dryer. Since I do a lot of laundry, I get uber annoyed when I go to load the dryer and find it full already because someone left clothes there for a few days (thankfully dry).
The dishwasher comment is great. I too am the only one in my house that seems to understand how to fit maximum dishes while leaving enough room for cleaning. What don’t they understand?
When I mention that I like to read and immediately get a response of “Oh it must be nice to have all that free time to read”. The truth is that I have no more free time than anyone else, but I choose to make reading a priority. I have never said to anyone "Oh it must be nice to have all that free time to watch TV " (which I choose not to do).
Advertisers who use ‘less’ when they mean ‘fewer’. Don’t these ads go past editors? It’s ‘fewer’ calories, not ‘less’ calories. Even in news articles one sees this mistake. Sentences should read ‘fewer’ people attended than last year not ‘less’ people.
There also seem to be a lot of ‘deserts’ on menus. Very, very dry desserts, I suppose.
Tardiness. I absolutely hate when people are late. And PSA, it’s not cool to text people you are running late AFTER the already agreed upon meeting time. To me it translates to “my time is more valuable than yours”.
In a discussion, people who give their opinion and then state or type out the word “Period”
That screams to me “end of discussion and my opinion is the only one that matters”
My irrational pet peeve related to college admissions are parents who expect their kid to go to an elite private university but have not saved up a dime to afford such college…and then try to rationalize it by saying they knew their 1YO baby would be NMF someday so no need to save for college!
I’m another dishwasher loader. DH puts dishes in the dishwasher, but knows I’ll rearrange them. It’s similar to packing a suitcase. I can get much more into mine than DH gets into his because I make the best use of the available space.
People on their phones, whether in the car, walking down the street, or when with other people.
