My aunt lives on the border of NJ and NY, and she’s offered me several times to take me visiting.
I keep procrastinating about finalizing plans because I don’t know if I want to visit now or in the fall.
I’d like to sit in some classes, but then by the time school starts again I’d be really busy. - -

When are you guys visiting? Or are you guys going to visit at all?

Wow you are so lucky to have that option! I wont be visiting any schools…at all. Although, I will be going to new york in the spring, but that is way after application deadlines. Still, I plan to visit Columbia

I would say to visit when classes are in session - it makes for a more legitimate visit than the no doubt tame and baking hot summers that most universities will experience.

As well, to anyone who just reads this and is contemplating a visit, DO IT IF AT ALL POSSIBLE.

Visits are SOO important to your choice because you need to be able to see yourself at said college/university. Its akin to buying a house sight-unseen… Its been done before, but if you are only making your choice based on research and pictures, not the “feel” of the campus or the vibe of the people, you are likely to regret some if not all of your decision.

So, if money is an issue, check out research and see: maybe you want to look at a university, but its too far away – see if there are any universities closer to you that have similar “vibes” according to your research and check out that one. It wont be the same, obviously, but at least you are getting that vibe feeling… You can make a decision a little later on, but if you dont visit at least one or two campuses, you will be missing out and your freshman year of college will be a massive culture shock (bigger than it already will be)

I already visited a few =).

^during the school year or in the summer?

I visited one during Spring Break so school was in session, and a few others during summer. If you can, I would suggest going during the school year as visiting during the summer doesn’t help that much.
