Isn’t “creepy” the usual result of a face lift?

Reading the list of free goodies takes longer than the marriage lasted.

To the person who said she is too young - she just turned 31! Even I had a kid by that time… She is not too young to make this choice, maybe just too immature.

I have seen the brother on Dancing with the Stars. He was on Leno last week and I was surprised that he was more charming and well-spoken than I had expected. He said he graduated USC and even if getting in he was helped by his name, he still had to do the work to graduate and get the degree.

As for the show, I saw it once and was horrified. H calls them “The Kard-kash-ians.”

It’s entertainment, folks. And judging by their millions, their continuing TV show, the stores, the magazine covers, the clothing line, etc. etc., they are very good at it.

Maybe she is really a tennis fan.

I read that they spent $10M on the wedding but that Kim and Kris made $18M in endorsements and fees.

So why aren’t people screaming about the “sanctitiy of marriage”? Isn’t that the reason some cite to keep homosexuals from marrying?

I think that heterosexuals like these Kardashians are doing a FINE job with sanctifying marriage.

^^^

It’s not clear they spent a single dime on that wedding. Most of the stuff was comped (publicity!) and the network the show is on (VH1??) had a contract with her that they’d pay for her wedding IF she got married when she was 30 (not 29, not 31, but 30 - I have no idea why it had to be 30.)

Is the cash they received from friends, family, and Tv now taxed at short term capital gains? ;)

scout59, excellent question.

C’mom people, 72 days isn’t a world record for shortest celeb marriage. It’s probably not even in the top ten. Have we forgotten that Britney Spears’s marriage to Jason Alexander lasted 55 HOURS? There are probably some that lasted no more than a day - however long it took one of them to sober up.

But Brittney Spears and Jason Alexander never planned their wedding as a machine for publicity. And at least Spears had good reason to be considered a celebrity before the wedding. I’ve yet to see what (other than supremely bad taste) makes any of the Kardashians celebrities. (And my recollection is that it was Spears’ parents who applied heavy pressure on her to annul the wedding.)

alwaysamom - I was only half-joking, too, when I asked that question. Why do those who are against gay marriage often use the excuse that it will “destroy” heterosexual marriage?

Here’s a marriage that lasted for 72 days, getting all kinds of publicity and airplay. I also heard that before this woman got married, she and E! had already targeted and approached a Knicks player with the idea of a celebrity wedding for reality TV. Supposedly, one reason she allegedly preferred this Knicks player was because he was already in NY and was closer to the set of her TV show.

If people seriously are worried about the sanctity of marriage, then where’s the uproar? Where’s the push for more premariatal counseling or stiffer divorce laws? I’m NOT saying that I’m necessarily in favor of any of these, just that I think that there should be some consistency here with respect to logic.

The biggest threat to marriage comes from heterosexuals, not homosexuals.

There, off my soapbox. Sorry for the attempted threadjack!

^^^ I SO agree with you!

I’ve believed for a while that celebrity relationships are publicity stunts. Ever notice how a movie’s leading man and leading lady seem to be dating and all over the gossip buzz for a month or so before the premier? Filming probably ended months and months prior. But now, all of a sudden, they’re “sneaking around in front of the paparazzi.”

(Sorry, I don’t have specific examples. But, just keep your eyes open as the Thanksgiving/Christmas movie season approaches. I bet we’ll see at least one romance pop up.)

DB - I still think that the Tom Cruise/Katie Holmes marriage is completely fake. No real reason. But that was the first couple that popped into my head when I read your post.

What are the chances that the marriage is solid but they planned to have Kim file for divorce, claim Kris is heart broken and in a few months we will learn on TV that they have reconciled?

^^^^

I’d say 0.

I was just watching Entertainment Tonight (don’t laugh) and Kathie Lee Gifford, who was at the wedding festivities, said Kim and Kris were never together at any of the events and one of Kim’s sisters said (at the wedding) there was no chance the marriage would last. (I have no idea why I’ve become obsessed with this nonsense.)

Why do you think they got married if they knew it would not last?

$$$$$$$$$$$$. That’s why.
