I think Marie’s point is that you can find a crazy doctor to sign off on anything you want - disability, vaccination exemption, emotional support animal, etc.
That may be true but it really doesn’t matter if other (easier to get) exemptions are allowed anyway.
And everything I read says that the vaccination rates are lowest in SOUTHERN California, not Marin.
Marie, I think you sometimes try to confuse the argument if you feel like you’re not getting your point across. It doesn’t really help anything.
I am not trying to confuse it. But, it is definitely getting confused. And, yes, your first sentence is exactly my point. It was Deitz’s point, too. Everybody is special for some reason. Well, I think anyway.
Sure, you can find someone to sign off on it. That doesn’t mean that it means diddly to your employer/insurance AND it is certainly not enough to be declared “disabled” as most reasonable people understand it.
Oh for peet’s sake. Knock it off. You used the term "special in post 1606 like it was some level of impairment. Now you are trying to say “everyone is special”. Puleeze.
jym- I don’t think she was talking about permanent, federal, disability but she was making it seem that way, likely on purpose. I have MS and I know I may have to face that battle one day. Everyone says is takes multiple attempts before you are approved.
So sorry to hear you have MS, greenwitch. As you no doubt know, if and when you decide to apply for social security disability, it will likely be a long process, perhaps with a denial and appeal process, lots of documentation , an IME from an independent Dr. and, heaven forbid, if necessary, to go all the way through the denial/appeals process to go before an administrative law judge. It is quite challenging and romani describes the challenges her dad has had. I agree with you. I think the smoke and mirrors posting nonsense is obstreperous and smells purposeful many times. There is a word for that kind of posting but we aren’t allowed to use it anymore.
That WP article says that California’s new-this-school-year requirement to have a doctor sign off on personal belief exemptions has “resulted in a drop in the PBE rate from 3.2 percent last year to 2.5 percent this year.”
I would agree that if you have money and time to go Dr shopping, you can find one to write you a scrip for antibiotics for a virus, and state that you have ADHD in an attempt to get extended time on tests, amongst other things.
But to get federally required accommodations for school or work, is very difficult.
Especially if you don’t have money to hire an attorney to force the school district and work place to adhere to your civil rights, & especially if you don’t have money to pay for the treatment or therapy that medical insurance doesn’t cover and the school district refuses to provide.
Don’t know if you are referring to me or greenwitch, but if you are referring to me, again you are incorrect in your assumptions. I am not in a bad mood. I simply have no patience for inaccurate ridiculous blanket statements that are not only wrong, but presented as “well of COURSE we ALL KNOW”… then followed by some dance of semantics and digressions and bogus rationalization. Its a collosal waste of time and bandwidth,IMO. Greenwitch described your tactics beautifully, so no need to repeat.
Sooo… back to vaccinations (NOT disability: short term, long term, temporary partial, full or permanent or what have you, which has nothing to do with the discussion. Nor does the baloney about anyone being declared “special” and getting some sort of exemption). Back to topic,PLEASE.
