Kurt Vonnegut’s son appears to be on the list of options of MA anti-vax pediatricians.
Vaccines are an insult to the body, any scientist knows that.>>>>>>>
well, lord knows, a full fledged assault by actual LIVE germs is an insult to the body.
jym, you are acting like getting a doctor to sign off on something is some humongous challenge. That has not been my experience. As for tactics, people not knowing what I am talking about is not a tactic. lol.
Your one experience getting a temporary disability for a pregnancy related issue is a far cry from the reality of getting acceptable documentation of a disability in other circumstances. A short term disability through an employer is comparatively easy, but you simply cannot make sweeping generalizations about all kinds of disability…
NOW LETS GET BACK TO TOPIC, unless you are trying to qualify for disability for a royal pain in the ar$
So anyone know why infants are immunized at birth for HBV, but not until 12-15 mo for MMR?
For the record, I don’t want to talk about disabilities at all and was not the poster who brought that up. Instead, I responded with one sentence that made a few people go whacko for some reason that I cannot begin to explain or understand. My sweeping generalizations, if they exist at all, were about doctors signing stuff. It happens. But, as it turns out with personal belief exemptions it seems unnecessary.
HBV? Do you mean Hep B?
There are literally dozens of factors that go into which shots you receive and when. The information for why each shot when is available from the CDC.
HBV is the proper label for Hep B
Not a scientist here but I bet the MMR doesn’t activate your antibodies in an effective enough way until you’re at least 12 months of age.
For Hep B, the government decided to vaccinate all babies at birth because the very few that were danger of getting Hep B at such a tender age (the children of HIV positive mothers who breastfeed) are babies at risk of not getting back to a pediatrician visit at 2 months, 4 months etc. So they were all vaccinated while they were still in the hospital.
Our children spanned this government protocol and our youngest was technically delayed getting the Hep B vaccine although the other ones were considered OK because they were born before 1992. We got the vaccine for all the kids when they were middle school age.
Interesting. I stumbled onto the NHS site, the UK version of the CDC/NIH. They don’t recommend the Hep B vaccine unless you’re an “at risk” population. Hover your mouse over “NHS Vaccine Schedule” to see:

The thing is, it’s NOT “injecting chemicals” into ourselves. It’s the danged actual killed germ injected to make your body produce antibodies against it thus becoming immune to it,instead of having to endure the suffering and inconvenience of being sick for several weeks. And yes, boosters are required for some. So what? Anti-vaxxers make that sound like such a freaking big deal. It isn’t.
Over the past three decades, the development of drugs against cancer has skyrocketed and with their use, these patients become immunocompromised. Yes, children get cancer and are ill to begin with, then their body’s defenses are temporarity taken from them while fighting the cancer. How can any educated person…especially a DOCTOR like Wolfson…possibly condone letting outbreaks happen naturally. When there are many ill patients who would DIE from those “innocent childhood diseases”. It boggle my common sense brain.
And then there are the unvaccinated themselves. What parent would condemn their daughter to grow up and possibly get exposed to rubella while pregnant and cause damage to her unborn child?
greenwitch, different countries have different vaccine schedules. IMO, that is actually a very good thing because it shows that scientists are doing what is best for their populations given what they know about the patterns in their country/community. It shows that schedules aren’t just arbitrarily assigned based on the whim of a scientist like some seem to think (not you, greenwitch)
I think part of what is taken into consideration when scheduling some of the earlier vaccinations is that babies are born with certain immunities that they get from their mothers during pregnancy. But some of those immunities start wearing off by two months, which is when some of the first series start.
@emeraldkity4 - some research has shown that younger infants won’t respond as well to the vaccine because they are still protected by antibodies from their mothers - this seems to be more of a concern with mothers who had the actual disease. Apparently if you vaccinate a 6-month-old child of a mother who had measles and then revaccinate her at 15 months, she may never develop a strong immune response.
It drives me nuts when anti-vaxxers claim as a reason not to vaccinate that vaccines make kids sick. Duh! The vaccines are designed to stimulate the immune system. A one-day fever of 99.5 is nothing like a full-blown case of measles or mumps.
Did anyone see the smallpox vaccination scene in the HBO series John Adams? Pretty grisly. And Abigail Adams says, “it was quick”.
The anti-vaxers aren’t rational. They. have a belief and they will make up anything to support it. http://www.nytimes.com/2014/05/09/upshot/vaccine-opponents-can-be-immune-to-education.html
Here’s the scene.
I love when anti-vaxxers talk about putting chemicals into your body.
These idiots should walk around for a day with an air analyzer. See how many “chemicals” they’re breathing in. Analyze their food- see how many chemicals they’re eating.
