When should I take the Calc BC exam?

If you have the time. You’re currently a junior, so you’re probably busy w/ other stuff. If you think you can devote 30-50 hrs total to focusing hard on advanced material, then go ahead. However, keep in mind that you can’t learn A LOT of BC topics until you finish learning integrals in AB. If you do decide to study BC, buy a good review book off amazon (PR or Petersons - any OLD edition is fine), and study it hard. Do a lot of old FRQs, and there’s also a very nice site called: justmathtutoring.com

Otherwise, just do it senior year - it really won’t make a huge difference. Good luck :)
