When stuff you love gets discontinued

franglish, I have a similar microwave that was made by Emerson. Check Target to see if they still carry it.

My #1 discontinued product is Royal Dark N’ Sweet Cooked Chocolate pudding mix. So tasty and made the BEST chocolate cream pie! My DD works at a grocery store and says people are constantly asking about it. I have tried to duplicate it but to no avail.

Ben and Jerry’s Wavy Gravy and Chocolate Peanut Butter Cookie Dough ice creams. It astounds me how the company can keep coming out with new flavors or keep old ones that sit on the shelves forever and not bring back these two.

I have recently noticed the disappearance of Cap’n Crunch Peanut Butter cereal (the little balls) too.

Starbucks has stopped selling their tins of mocha powder and only sells syrups now (which I hear are hit and miss as far as flavor).

My son would like for Burger King to bring back the Oreo Shake. He makes due with their Oreo sundae but it is not his favorite.

I ran into this problem recently at work. We needed a part for a piece of equipment and I found it on the manufacturer’s website. When I went to order it 10 days later, it was gone. I called the company and the guy told me they considered the part “obsolete.” We ended up having one of our repair companies we use come out and fabricate something, but it isn’t the same. And it was 3x as much! That piece of equipment could get expensive over the next few years…

I had a pair of Under Armour tennis shoes that I really liked. I bought a pair for myself and then that following Christmas my mom bought me a pair of the same model. Now I can no longer get them. They were some of the most comfortable shoes I’ve had!

Perfumes drive me crazy, too. Anyone know who sells just plain floral scented colognes. Avon used to have lilac and lily of the valley and honeysuckle, but last I checked they didn’t have anything like that. I found a honeysucklish scent at B&B as well as a juniper one that I liked, but they don’t have them anymore. I bought a couple of scents in Hawaii of native flowers but those are almost gone and a bit stronger than I like anyway. I’m tempted to go out in my backyard and harvest my own honeysuckle and do some homemade! LOL!

I don’t wear perfume any more since so many people are sensitive to it ( & because I don’t use it enough for it to be fresh), but I use lotions and creams that have scent.
I have gotten lots of compliments when I use [Skin Food](http://usa.weleda.com/our-products/shop/skin-food.aspx) Really the best stuff ever. Weleda also makes non mint toothpaste.

What irritates me just as much as things disappearing, is when they change a formulation & try and pass it off as the same thing. ( and then put it in a bigger jar with a false bottom, stick it in a pretty box and charge three times as much!)

We also do 80% of our own auto maintenance and over the years parts are harder to find or they change it from metal to plastic.
Isn’t it bad enough that in so many cases it can be cheaper to buy new than fix it?

The most recent discontinued item that I loved - Aldi’s (Lacura) milk and honey lip balm. Three large tubes (I hate the chapstick size) for $1.49!

I have written Aldi twice to beg them to bring it back but they said it didn’t sell well… WHO wasn’t buying great lip balm at .50 a tube???

EK, try doing the Valsalva maneuver when your lungs start to feel tight - I find that really helps.

I had a pair of Merrell’s I wore until they fell apart – now the company has changed the footbed design and Merrell’s are no longer comfortable for me.

My daughter misses Crest Prohealth Cinnamon toothpaste.

I used CVS lotion for more than 20 years – they changed the formula in recent months so I had to move on to a different brand. :(

I thought I was buying a staple at Costco - Organic strawberry spread. It had like three ingredients - strawberries, sugar and pectin. I bought it for years but when I went last time the only strawberry stuff was Smuckers jam!

I’m another one that thinks that Trader Joe’s figures out what I like just to discontinue them. I’ve had products that I tried out, thought they were absolutely wonderful and went back to stock up and they would be gone! So frustrating!

Yes, post 47, I had a comfortable and clunky pair of Merrill’s, circa 2006. I would love to buy them again!

I had to look up the Valsalva maneuver. ( note to self: don’t use urban dictionary)
There seems to be a concern of sudden death in asthma patients after using the maneuver.
So I probably won’t try it. Not more than once anyway.

Nabisco Zwieback. Sigh. (Though the King Arthur folks came up with a recipe that is supposed to be pretty close …I just don’t do yeast breads very often.)

Loved Aziza mascara with sealer but I can no longer find it.

Bath and Body Works has some scents available only on line. That’s how I find my favorite, pink grapefruit. Not available in the stores.

Toastettes. Please tell me I’m not the only one who loved them as a kid. For those of you who don’t remember, Toastettes were much like a Pop Tart, but they had more filling in them and a bit of sugar sprinkled across the crust. I’m sure they were not good for me, but they sure did taste good, especially with a glass of chocolate milk.

Trader Joe’s stopped carrying my favorite dill pickles about two years ago, and I am still in mourning. I haven’t found any others I like as much. Any recommendations?

It is a sign of old age when they stop making your “products”. It sneaks up on us, too, no chance to stockpile. Except I do have a case of Enamelon toothpaste DH got for me from ebay. I think it might last me for the duration. Sometimes the product is available in other countries, just not in the US, for instance the NIVEA Q-10 products, day and night creams. There is a men’s version in the US, but it smells bad. ARGH

Quality cotton underwear, no lace type. I used to find them at Costco. I wish I had bought more because lately the stuff Costco carries are just awful.

Lux hand soap in bars is available in other countries but hard to find in the US; fortunately, we have run across it in the Dollar Stores and similar places with writing showing it was made or being sold in other countries.

It’s tough to decide whether to stockpile things or not sometimes. I am trying not to because we have limited storage space but it is upsetting when something you really like (like quality cotton underwear from Costco) gets discontinued with no notice. :frowning: When the items are small and non-perishable, stockpiling is more likely than if it has expiration date and may not fare well over time (especially scents and lotions and foods).

I have trouble with jeans. I’ve moved through about 4 stores which have discontinued the brand I like. Last time I found one, I bought 4 pairs. 3 years later I’m still going strong on those. Same with shoes. I usually buy them in every color. Just plain basic pumps with 2 inch heels that come in wide and fit comfortably. When I was growing up, my mom used to buy a raspberry angel food cake mix that we all loved. I’ve tried to duplicated that raspberry syrup to swirl through the cake many times and have never succeeded. The last time I found it was in a no name discount store about 10 years ago.

Alas, it’s also a problem when the stores (especially Costco) stops carrying your size because our state and nation are becoming super-sized and you aren’t. GRRRR!

The raspberry angel food cake sounds heavenly! I have purchased several pairs of black jeans as well as khakis from Costco that fit very nicely. Recently also found a pair of navy jeans that fit. They stopped carrying men’s small, so can’t shop there for H or S. :frowning: Can’t shop there much for D either, since she’s much more petite than I and it’s even tough for me to find my size. Do like the quality and prices of most of their clothing, just wish they carried smaller sizes–there are a lot of us in HI!

My china pattern. Unfortunately, they stopped making it a few years after I started collecting it and it hasn’t been available other than a plate here or there. I inherited a different set after that, but I’ve always been hoping to complete the one I started.

They had an inspiring article about ReplacementsLtd in the NY Times recently

http://www.nytimes.com/2012/05/26/business/replacements-limiteds-stand-for-gay-marriage-draws-repercussions.html

so I checked the website and what do you know, there were two full place settings to add to my set!
