We went to War Eagle Day and my D really liked Auburn. she made a 32 on ACT but I am not sure of GPA until late June- she needs a 3.5 for the Founder’s scholarship- if she does not have a 3.5 when should she apply? The next GPA wouldn’t be calculated until after exams in December so it would be too late for Dec 1 scholarship freshman deadline…

She has to have her application in before December 1. If she applies earlier she can put down a deposit for housing as soon as she is accepted. An earlier deposit allows her to have a better chance of getting her dorm preference. If she decides to retake the ACT or SAT and gets a better score she can always have the new score sent and her records will be updated.

My daughter applied in September and put her housing deposit down in October.

When son initially applied to Auburn, he did not qualify for the Presidential Scholarship. He retook the SAT in October and scored high enough to receive the Presidential Scholarship, which he subsequently did. He was also able to land an invite to the Presidential Scholar Day on MLK Day. I highly recommend you attend that. It is a school day, so you will see students on campus and get a feel for campus life. One of the Presidential Scholars spoke to us while we enjoyed a very nice lunch. We had a nice visit to the academic department, engineering, in our case, where students and faculty spoke to parents, while students did a tour as well. Great opportunity for questions and answers. We took a general campus tour as well, including regular and village dorms. A very good parents session as well. Even though you’ve done a visit, I highly recommend you attend Presidential Scholar Day as well. If you’re on the border of receiving the Pres Scholar, I would still call to see if you can get an invite. I think there were other students there besides Pres Scholars, maybe those up for the Elite Scholarship? though I’m not familiar with that scholarship. We met kids from Memphis, New Jersey, Puerto Rico, Atlanta, Chicago, all over. Good luck!

she won’t be eligible for Presidential- Only Founder’s(tuition)

how soon do they let you know about acceptance /schoalrships?

I think acceptance turn around varies. My daughter knew within a week or two, but I know of others who waited months. If you call admissions they are very nice and very helpful and I am sure they can answer your questions far more accurately than we can.

Apply as early as you can. Get admitted and get on the housing list early. Keep trying for scholarships and honors program.
