Where can you go with 26 ACT?

Hello again my CC friends.Yesterday i recived an e-mail from a friend .He learned about my “success” here in great land of america and now wants to study.
he is from caracas Venezuela
Has 26 ACT
245TOEFL
GPA:B+(according to him).
My question is(well he’s question is) which good universities do you think he should apply?
he wants to major in biology or architecture.

depends on his financial situation…
Is he applying for fin. aid?

He told me his parents are willing to pay 25 K year…Financial aid would be welcomed

For 25 K you can either go to cheap private colleges in rural areas where housing is cheap (but better colleges usually aren’t cheap), or to a big public university with lower tuition rates than private colleges. He most likely wouldn’t be a candidate for financial aid, neither merit- nor need-based.

You might use the college search engine at www.collegeboard.com to find a good match for your friend.

Could anyone just give me a short list regardless of financial aid.The reason why i’m asking this because i don’t trust those college search website(they listed cornell, berkeley, brown , as a match when i did) and i don’t know what to suggest him( i’m only familiar with ivy league and other very selective colleges)

I would use a search engine that does not rate your chances. If your friend does not require any financial aid, simply go with the SAT or ACT statistics of the college.
I just ran a search at Collegeboard using the following parameters: four-year, on-campus housing available, biology + architecture majors offered, ACT 26, SAT 1200, GPA > 3.0, Out-of-state Tuition < 15 K
The search returned the following 10 results:
(Searching without GPA returns 30 results)

California Polytechnic State University: San Luis Obispo
San Luis Obispo, CA

Louisiana State University and Agricultural and Mechanical College
Baton Rouge, LA

North Dakota State University
Fargo, ND

Oklahoma State University
Stillwater, OK

University of Arizona
Tucson, AZ

University of Arkansas
Fayetteville, AR

University of Idaho
Moscow, ID

University of Kentucky
Lexington, KY

University of North Carolina at Charlotte
Charlotte, NC

University of Utah
Salt Lake City, UT

Wow, the University of Arizona seems the best out of the lot. I actually thought their requirements were much higher, but that’s good news for you.

I’d pick either Arizona, North Carolina or Cal Poly.
