Target for like $17. I love it, on one side it’s a light seafoam green, on the other side it’s a bit darker green. Simple.

My daughter got hers at Target. It was cute and inexpensive.

You all are great–thanks for the prompt and varied responses! I will pass the suggestions on to my D and I did check out a few and sent her an email with numerous links. Would love to have this one thing checked off the very long list of things to do in the next 5 days (including graduation, etc)!

Older D found hers at Target and still loves it. My d’s all grew up with duvets (comforter covers) and this D (D2) is tired of having the cover slip around (despite the clips we use) and wants the single comforter rather than the two pieces. I think it’s much easier to find cute duvets–Ikea has a great selection.

Ross And TJMaxx. Love those places - I go there frequently, and save a bundle!!

collageI- funny, I’ve always thought the opposite – much greater variety in comforters, hard to find cute duvets! It’s changing a little bit just in the past couple of years. We don’t have an Ikea near us though, so don’t know what they offer.

Doesn’t anyone just take whatever was on their bed at home?

^^^^ Not D, because she will be home regularly and we’ll need bedding for her to use then.

I’m glad I peeked at this thread. I didn’t realize Linens and Things still had an online site. That’s where we found most of my older daughter’s bedding in '08. I was very sad when they closed all their stores.

We have random miscellaneous extra blankets at home that S can use when he is here visiting.

She pulled it off of her bed at home.

@calmom, glad I’m not the only one running out to buy a new comforter for my college-bound kiddo ;-)

For some very cute and funky options, look at wake up frankie (connect the words and add a dot com).

D2 likes her hand-tied large fleece blanket and a lightweight blanket underneath (not off to college yet, but going to summer programs in dorms). D1 (college junior) bought a sort of generic comforter, but she also says her hand-tied fleece blanket is her favorite.

BBB, Target, Company Store (mail order) & Wal Mart are ones we have used. (4 kids)

To reply to mathmomvt (back a page) - D’s bed at home is a queen; at school she needed an XL Twin. We did splurge and buy her a new pillow 2 years ago because our dog has a pillow fetish and most (all?) of ours have a bite or two out of them.

Her room is also our guest room since she’s gone most of the year.

She did bring an existing set of towels, and we didn’t automatically purchase everything new.

We didn’t want to spend a lot of money on something that could potentially be ruined, but since the bed is kind of a big part of the room, it’s nice to make it aesthetically pleasing.

For my son, we got a “bed in a bag” at BB&B. To our tastes, only one style was masculine … the others seemed girly. So try BB&B.

An advantage of “bed in a bag” idea at BB&B is that one 20% coupon covers it all (sheets, pillowcase, comforter, and even sometimes pillow and hamper).

When I first read the title of this thread, I thought, “Well, her comforter is one thing my daughter has managed to not lose” (where did your daughter “find” her comforter)…

My daughter is also leaving for summer camp in a few weeks (she works as a counselor), and will only be home for a few days before she leaves for school in August. She found some sets that she likes at dormco.com but we haven’t ordered any yet. After reading this thread, she looked at Urban Outfitters. I think she may order one from there.

Where did MY daughter find her comforter??? On her bed. She took the quilt from her bedroom here at home to college with her. My kids did ALL of their linen shopping for college at home first.

Out of curiosity, for all those saying they simply took the comforter from home, was bed size an issue? For example, most colleges have twin xl beds, but most high school students do not…was the comforter simply used anyway? I had a twin at home, myself.
