Where Do I Go From Here?

I hate “chance me” threads, so I’m going to do my best to rephrase it as a “consulting” thread.

-Sophomore at Colorado State University.
-B.S. Psychology, Honors with a 3.8 GPA (thus far)
-Vice-President of Alpha Phi Omega - Co-ed Community Service Frat
-Involvement in Pre-med club on campus
-HCAC: Health Care for All Colorado - Activist and Volunteer, Org for Single-Payer Insurance
-Resident Assistant in the Halls
-Newly inducted Psi Chi member!
-Planned Parenthood Health Care Services Clinic Volunteer (want to turn it into a paid position eventually)
-Nominated for NRHH: National Residence Hall Honorary
-Dean’s List for a couple of semesters
-Research experience in psychology looking at visuospatial effects with working memory
-TA’d for two classes this semester (in psychology)

I’m really wondering where I go from here. I know that I shouldn’t treat anything as a checkmark on a list of things to get. That’s why I’ve pursued things like APO, HCAC, Planned Parenthood… They were things I’m passionate about. What should I go looking for, what should I foster and develop? What’s missing? What’s going to make me bridge the gap between average and standout?

I’m planning on staying for a total of 5 years. So, I’m going to have time to take calculus, biochem, and various other recommended classes.

Thank you so much guys!

P.S. BDM, props man, you work so hard in these threads and I’m really amazed! So, thanks!

I think you look good- i guess i would say all you’re missing is a solid MCAT score :)

Your EC’s are great, except I don’t think you have enough clinical experience, or any clinical experience, actually. Unless HCAC and your involvement with PPH includes hands-on experience with people in a health setting, but I feel like it probably doesn’t. You need to show admissions that you know for a fact you want to be a doctor and can work well with patients by volunteering/working in a clinical setting.

pph is definitely clinical. I’m doing a lot of direct work with patients. Far better than the local hospital, which puts there volunteers in the gift shop.

I do need to get some shadowing experience though!
