Where should I study (outside US)? UG business/economics/finance

What are the best places to study business, economics or finance outside US (for undergraduate)?

What would you say is better - top tier undergrad + moderate graduate OR moderate undergrad + top tier graduate?

Also, if I want to do a master say at London Business School, would I be able to do that if I study computer science (bachelor) at e.g. Imperial College London first? Or would it be better to say have a bachelor degree in business from Bocconi university?

Oxford, Cambridge, Peking University, National University of Singapore

London School of Economics

Moderate undergrad and top tier grad is better

This really depends on goals, region, etc., so what are your’s?

MBA programs take all sorts of undergrad majors but the good ones want good work experience.

@PurpleTitan Goal - analyst/manager job for a big firm. I live in Norway, but I think I will want to work in another country. I originally planned on studying in the US, but have found out it’s too expensive for me (I can’t receive financial aid).

(1) I could do a bachelor in Norway, much cheaper alternative, but none of the unis here have a brand name and I wouldn’t get the experience of studying abroad (unless I did exchange or do grad school somewhere else).

(2) So I’m considering places like UCL and Bocconi (undergraduate). Do you think it would be worth it?

(3) Or should I rather do my undergraduate degree in Norway and then do my graduate degree somewhere else?

(4) Another option would be for me to first study in Norway and then be a transfer student to the US (I could afford this).

Thank you so much for your help!

Maybe Stockholm school of economics in Sweden, as you’re Norwegian?

imperial college london, oxford, camrbidge, kings college, university college london ,london school of economics.

you know US/UK education is #1 RRRiite?

i dont recommend you applying to chinese universities, because china itself is meh.

anyways if you want somewhere outside USA , you know it yourself that UK is the best choice.

@Hejhej Do you think SSE would be a better choice than CBS?
I could go to SSE without paying any tuition fees, bc I’m a Norwegian citizen.
Would it still be better for me to go to e.g. UCL? If I did, I’d have debts of about 90k after four years.
Would my best option be to do my bachelor in SSE and then do a master at a more prestigious university in another country? As long as I get good grades, does it really matter that much where I do my bachelor?

Thank you so much everyone!

I think going in to that much debt for UCL is crazy when you have good free alternatives.

For your stated goal, there is zero reason not to take the free options that you have. It seems that some are even outside your country, so you would still be studying abroad (I believe Germany has some English-language programs as well; also free).

I assume the region you are interested in is Europe? “Another country” is vague and tells me that you haven’t really thought it through (about why you want to live/work somewhere). If that is the case, going in to a ton of debt is insane.

@PurpleTitan Yes,I haven’t thought it through. I originally planned on studying CS, but have found out it wouldn’t be the right choice for me. I don’t really have much clue what I want to do with my life, but at least if I study business I will have a lot of opportunities (I hope). And yes, I should choose something that won’t leave me with a lot of debt, because then it will be easier to switch to another study later if I really want to.
A dream would be to have either a great job in the US or a job where I get to travel a lot. But I know there’s a really slim chance for that.

An option would be to go to Bocconi and do an exchange year/semester at a US university (they have a really good exchange program). Bocconi won’t be too expensive, especially thanks to Norwegian funding (Lånekassen) for studying abroad.
Does anyone know if Bocconi or SSE is regarded as the best place for UG business/economy/finance?

Apply to both Bocconi and SSE. Wait for results and then decide.
Also, check and see if you’re eligible for the SAAs scholarship at Scottish universities - Edinburgh, Glasgow, St Andrews. Plus Trinity Dublin BESS.
No need to get into debt when out have such great options.

As for CBS vs SSE, the SSE UG program requires that the student is fluent in Swedish. As you’re Norwegian that wouldn’t really be a problem as Swedes and Norwegians understand each other very well. I don’t know if the CBS UG program requires you to be fluent in Danish but if it does that maybe would be a problem if you don’t know Danish. As a Swede myself I can’t understand what the Danes are saying.

I don’t know much about business schools as I’ve never been interested in business but I think SSE is considered better than CBS. SSE have very high job placement in London.

My daughter attends Maastricht University School of Business and Economics (SBE) in the Netherlands. It’s fantastic - I recommend looking into it.
