more important than the profile for you is YOU… what colleges are you looking for? specific majors? campus? big school? small school? good sports? housing options? weather? guys/girls/nightlife? etc…

id advise going to the college search and selection forum and see what they tell you

I just want an idea of what difficulty of school i should be aiming for

anyone? at all?

You need to tell us what you are interested in, what you want in a college, etc. Try using Princeton Review’s councilor-o-matic or another site like that.

harvard and princeton

I guess I am being vague…

I live in PA and will not be traveling further west than the Mississippi. I also want to go somewhere further south than pittsburgh. I would really like to attend a school in Maryland, Virginia, New York or DC. Size-wise i have no idea…I also have no idea what i want to major in…

lol Sorry I kinda forgot the schools outside of the east coast even existed

Mit !

NYU? SUNY? I dunno.

well, I’m not too experienced, but I think your gpa and sat scores as well as ec’s are not high enough to get into the upper echelons of top schools like harvard or princeton, but I do think that you have good stats, and maybe should aim for somewhere like NYU, Notre Dame, or BC, what does everyone else think?

University of Maryland.

Are you sure you want to get out of PA? In the eastern part of the state, there are many, many fine schools that won’t be close to home.

Out of the state schools, you might want to look at UMD, UVA (a reach), and UNC (farther south than you wanted, I know). William and Mary would also be a reach, although, if you want to study science, I don’t know how good that would be. Private schools to consider would be George Washington, American, and NYU (but not if you need FA). Another safety might be Drew in NJ.

lol I am not completely against PA…i am just not intrested in say University of Pittsburgh or something because i can walk there from my house

Add these to look at then: Bucknell, Dickinson, Lehigh, Lafayette, and Bryn Mawr.

Oh, and Gettyburg.

BTW, your junior grades will be far more important than your sophomore grades - so you’re in a good position. If you take the SATs again and improve your scores, esp. the math, you’ll have even a better chance at getting into these schools.

How much more important are junior grades…my sophomore grades honestly sucked

I am really intrested in what would be considered a resonable "reach ", “match” and “safety” would be…like an example to give me an idea of what i should be thinking about

Junior grades are definitely more important. They show an upward trend with maturity. A bad junior year despite an excellent sophomore and freshman year can eliminate you from contention at many colleges.

Junior year is known to be the toughest, both academically and in terms of pressure, since it often determines which tier of school will accept you.

Keep at it!
