I received a local scholarship for a couple hundred dollars with the check made out to UVA. Does anyone know where I can mail this check to have it credited to my account?

Take it to Carruther’s Hall.

Generally, those local scholarships are unrestricted. You can put that money towards books, dining, etc. Restricted scholarship money usually has to go towards tuition and the granting body usually writes the check to the University.

So, if the check is written in your name, it’s unrestricted money and you can choose to put it towards tuition or towards your other expenses.

Mailing address for scholarships is

University of Virginia
PO Box 400204
Attn: Scholarship Office
Charlottesville, VA 22904

Since the check is made out to the University you may need to ask to the scholarship group if they have any restrictions otherwise UVa may divide the money into two semesters.

Congrats…

Oops. Didn’t see the detail about the check being made out to UVa.
