Lately every other poster wants to major in CS, so I recommend doing a search of the forums, as you’ll get dozens of threads with suggestions. A sampling:

Times change…a decade ago you couldn’t swing a stick on CC without hitting four HS seniors with a passion for economics and ibanking.
If you provided your stats that may narrow down the list.
Carnegie Mellon University, one of THE best college for CS. And it’s revelatively easier to get in than other T20 schools with it’s 22% acceptance rate. If you want to go CS, need to check it out. Otherwise probably T20 if you want the best CS programs.
@JayPanda CS is more competitive than most other majors at schools that admit by major. Carnegie Mellon is one of those schools. You cannot apply as a humanities major and switch to CS.
Ah sorry I didn’t know. Carnegie is a reach for me so I didn’t do too much research into it.
I’ll link my post too, to add to the list by warblersrule.
My list is more orientated toward northeast, since that’s where I want to live.
IIT
The 22% is wrong for CMU, that includes all majors. For SCS and SIS it’s in the single digits.
The Big 4 is UC-Berkeley, Stanford, Carnegie-Mellon, and MIT, in no particular order.
@TomSrOfBoston my expected toefl score is above 90. Sat expected score is in the range of 1350-1470.and my expected sat subjective score for maths 2 and physics is 700+. P.S. I am an Indian Citizen
i am an indian citizen
i would apperciate if you could arrange the list of the schools in 3 categories: safety, match and reach
OP - without test scores in hand it’s hard to create a list. Also financial aid plays a big role in what people will suggest since aid is very limited for international students.
There is a big difference between 1350 and 1470! SAT IIs should be above 750 for more competitive programs. Also you should try to aim to get your TOEFL above 100.
Come back and post when you’ve taken your standardize tests and have results.
@momofsenior1 I am expecting that my lowest score will be 1350 if i make alot of mistakes and 1470 if everything goes really well. i am trying for my toefl to be 100+.I have mentioned my worst case scenario.
Until you have ACTUAL test scores in hand, no point in chancing. What about your High school course rigor, extracurricular activity, awards etc…? These are all required for a complete applicaiton review. Test scores alone will not determine your chances for admission. Also just because you may be qualified and could get an acceptance, if you cannot afford to attend then all this is moot.
