Which colleges are most like Hogwarts?

^diploma mills, anyone?

There should be a college that teaches magic. I’d major in it.

Every single one of the colleges I have visited has found some way to compare itself to Hogwarts. If it existed, I would hazard a guess that it would be more popular than Harvard.

For women, Bryn Mawr. Drive around the campus from the outside, or see the hall on the tour. Great school, too.

All Souls is sick.

I never got to see the inside, but Brooks College at Baylor is supposedly based on hogwarts

Although no schools teach magic, Stanford has a Harry Potter student initiated course called Harry Potter and the Arc of Storytelling. I would go there just for that!

Christ Church College, Oxford = where the Great Hall was filmed. Also University College, Durham, where you live in the castle.

[If Harvard were Hogwarts - Boston.com](http://www.boston.com/bostonglobe/ideas/gallery/hogwarts/)

I think that says it all =)
They also liken MIT to Azkaban, hehe ;)

University of Chicago may come close, but Max P. and that hideous neogotho-whatever building kind of ruin the atmosphere.

University of Edinburgh in Scotland.

^True, and as someone mentioned earlier, St. Andrews as well.

hogwarts, duh! it’s a real college, right?..

No, it’s a “school”, presumably a middle and high school. They still have to apply for college (and I don’t think many will get in).

I have a similar question to the OP’s. Bumping this thread. Helpful replies only, please.

caltech says its like Hogwarts because they divide into their really freakin eccentric houses and “do magic”. My brother goes there, he says thats just tour guide marketing.

Yale also says their like hogwarts with their residential colleges, that is kinda true because of the house vs. house spirit and rivalry, and it is modeled after Oxford. Assignment is random, so there is no characteristic of one house.

I thought princeton could be like Hogwarts, because its campus is so damn beautiful and you have weird little black squirrels running around.

MIT seemed like azkaban to me.

Rice and Yale come to mind.

UChicago, most definitely. (If you ignore the monstrously oogly library…)

Honestly, what is this obsession with Harry Potter on CC? I’ve never been a fan myself…

Huh. I’m a Caltech tour guide, and I only mention the Hogwarts thing because it’s kind of true. Once you come on campus in September, you spend a day eating lunch and dinner in each of the 8 houses, then you rank them. The cannon will fire at the end of the week and you are “sorted” into your house. There’s definitely tons of house spirit, different personalities and stereotypes, and rivalries going on, Interhouse sports for the trophy, etc. Plus there are family-style dinners every weeknight with your house. Sounds a bit like Harry Potter to me!
