Which decent uni to get a high GPA

So basically am currently looking for life sciences undergrad degree in US! am only doing this to be eligible to apply to dental schools!

I wondered if anyone could point out some university that I could apply to with my A-level qualification from UK. I dont care where I get my degree from as long as its ok with dental admission.

Do I understand correctly? You are a British student, with A-levels, who wants to enroll in an American college or university to get a Bachelor’s degree in life sciences? Is that correct?

Your A-levels will be very impressive to pretty much ANY college or university in the U.S. To pass A-levels, you had to have a much better education than that of a typical American student your own age. Most American colleges and universities will, based on your A-levels, let you skip some of the first year classes, because you already know the stuff they teach–what you had to learn for British A-levels is what we don’t cover in the U.S. until college.

That being the case, you need now to think more about the kind of college or university you want to go to. There are something like 3,000 colleges and universities in the U.S. Do you want to find one that fits your learning style? Do you want to go to a place with a lot of students or few students? Big classes or small classes? In a big city (with all of the benefits from that) or a small town (which is cheaper, and some folks prefer it to the craziness of the city)? What region of the country–the United States is a BIG country? A school affiliated with a particular religion, or not? Convenient for an international airport, so you can come home to Britain for a visit when you want to? And so on.

Medical and dental school in the US is very expensive.

Can your family pay for your education?

If you are set in dentistry, it’s an undergraduate subject in the UK. So you could save yourself time and money by applying to UK unis (but if your aim is to practice dentistry in the US or live in the US for a few years, obviously this isn’t the best choice).

I have no way of knowing where YOU are going to get a high GPA. I might be able to figure out which school I could get a high GPA at, but I don’t know anything about your particular learning style–what sort of educational enviroment is best for you, and what sort doesn’t work for you. Everyone is different. The school that is best for one person is completely wrong for another.

Emm yeh ! ahh my poor parents has to pay so much money :(

Yh my intention is to graduate in US and possibly live in there…so no point doing dentistry here cuz its not acceptable for US

yh it might have been a confusion…I was actually asking where people would go for to get a high gpa! and
also in terms of getting prepared for medical/dent school-you know good advisers-few people who have already gone down the pathway…

yh was asking if anyone wants to share their experience :)

Okay, so you are an American who wants to study dentistry in America.

Not really the focus of this part of CC, have you asked your questions in the “College Majors” section, under “other college Majors” or “Science Majors”?

(And do you understand that American colleges and universities use a 4.0 scale, so you can get up to a 4.0 GPA no matter which college or university you go to?)

KEVP

Oh, and I have just noticed that there is also a separate section of CC for “Professional & Graduate School”. They don’t have a forum for dentistry, but there are a lot of subforums for Pre-Med & Medical school.
