Which International School for Me?- International Relations

Hello, I am new to this website. I found myself using it a lot for help with my school choices.
I am currently attending Pace University in NYC. I am going to become a sophomore in the Fall of 2009. I was originally an Accounting Major but I realized that I need to really follow my dreams, and not just major in something for the job security.
I want to study International Relations.
I have chosen all my USA picks already, but am having a huge problem with picking out my International Universities. I don’t really know where to look. I have a couple of schools that CC users have recommended:

American University of Paris
Jacobs University Bremen
Franklin College Switzerland

School cost and living expenses are not a concern at all.
I hope some of you could help me, or give me places to look.
Thank you!

Hey there,

I’m in international and comparative politics at AUP. I have a friend that goes to Franklin… last time I talked with her, she said she was studying international relations, she said it was “so-so.” Maybe her experience has changed since then, but I don’t really know the details because she told me that like over a year ago. I’m not sure how good the program is. I can really only comment on my own experience.

I’m a sophomore currently and I just started the major this year. The intro classes are sort of boring but once you get into the higher level ones, it’s pretty interesting. The teachers are top-notch… even the intro level ones. My world politics teacher this year works in NATO, apparently, so he has funny anecdotes. There’s also a lot of opportunities outside of class time. Next Monday, in the French Senate, AUP organized a democracy conference that top scholars are going to attend. If you’re in the department, you’re supposed to go (it’s free).

Anyway, that’s just a little blurb about what my current experience has been. I really like the major. A lot of the kids who graduate from this program go on to the Ivies for masters. Sorry I can’t really give you advice about the other schools.

Whatever you do, do not go to Jacobs. I live in Germany (1hr from Bremen, actually) and even here it’s considered subpar. I’ve heard good things about AUP but I don’t know much about Franklin.

Other colleges you could look at it:

Rotterdam

Geneva

UBC (in Canada)

And if you have the grades…LSE and St. Andrews. Top notch IR programs.
