Is going with a date more fun than going single with a few friends? To those of you who have already attended prom, which was better for you? My teacher said its never fun with a date…and that you have much more fun with friends.

I haven’t done prom with both but I have done homecoming with both and in my opinion it was way more fun with a date. But I don’t think it would be fun if I were going with someone just so I wouldn’t be alone. I went with that guy because I like him.

If you have someone in mind specifically for a date and he/she knows your friends, combine them. Bring your date along with your friends (who should then also bring their dates along) and then you can all sit together and have fun and can break into couples for slow songs or whatever if you want to.

It depends.

What I’ve heard from others is that if you have a date with someone that you like/are dating, it’s loads of fun to be with them.

But I’ve also heard from friends that have gone with random guys/casual friends/classmates/etc. that they didn’t know especially well that it wasn’t fun and most of the time, it got pretty awkward …

However I know that going with a large group of friends is almost always fun … why wouldn’t it be? One thing to watch out for though is being the only friend in the group without a date … make sure there’s at least one guy/girl in your group of friends that’s flying solo too so that you can talk to him/her if everyone else is absorbed in their dates.

Good luck and I hope you have lots of fun no matter which option you end up choosing.

If your date isn’t uncomfortable around your friends and you all can have a good time together it all works out… seriously that way you can have a date and you can also have an awesome prom date too! It worked well for me ;)

IMO it’s a lot more fun with a date. Corsages, the asking part, PICTURES are sooo much fun… all of it :)

well, I dont have a date…im not really planning to get one either. Theres this one guy that I can ask, but were not really that close friends anymore. We used to be last semester, but since I transfer out of that class…I dont talk to him much anymore. I think I might be going with two of my most closest friends. I’m not sure though if its going to be fun or is it going to be awkward…

I have a date, but we are just friends. Very good friends in fact. If you have a good friend of the opposite gender who is dateless also, why not go with them?

If your just going with someone who is a friend/ just don’t want to be at the prom alone I doubt that could be more fun with a group of friends. Group of friends your not tied to a specific date. Though if most went to prom single, it would be like one hudge party. May be somewhat of an informal non-traditional prom, but probably more fun.

it totally depends on your date, and your friends

I used to like it with friends, you are less stressed to please your date all the time, to make sure that they are not bored, etc

Do both, thats what im doing. Ive got a date and we’re going out to eat with a group of friends (8) or so. This way, there’s not that much pressure to please, but if you connect you can pair off at the actual dance and spend time alone.
