Which is better?

regents are more important!!! believe it!

the most important class i took was earth science that counts for 4/5 and the regents for the other 1/5 of my grade%_%

if those are your sat II scores your not to smart to be honest sorry ")thats prabably what the college you are trying to apply to would say well no offense

If I read A for Admisssions correctly, it sounded like, at least at the Ivy’s where they calculate a “academic index”, SAT1 and SAT2 are weighted equally. The formula is basically the average of all the SAT grades plus a number that is based on your high school rank or their best estimate of the rank if your school doesn’t rank.

I would personally pick A, though it depends on the breakdowns before I make a final decision b/c if A’s SAT scores are all even down the line I might just slightly give it to student B, but if A has a perfect or near-perfect score I’d definitely give it to him

Be careful, he might start doing just that.

Okay, back to the post:

As Tonyt88 has said, I would also personally pick A. However, looking at trends, it seems that B would have a better chance.

It’s student B by such a ridiculously wide margin…

A 2340 is better than a 1 in 2000 score. Add in the fact that SAT IIs as a whole aren’t as important as the SAT and you have your answer. I think student B would be better even if student A had 3 800s.

Actually A has a 2180, and if he had three 800’s you better believe he would be winning by a long shot.

First of all, if you’d read my post carefully, you’d realize that I knew A has a 2180. Second of all, SAT IIs are content based, something that is more heavily measured in GPA. SAT measures somthing totally different, which is supposed to be innate ability. If SAT IIs were anywhere NEAR as important as SATs, schools would publish the numbers, since they’d undoubtedly be high.

I really hope you’re right, because I pretty much am Student B.

The bad part is that I plan on applying to Columbia ED, and feel that my SAT IIs will ruin my chances, although I have an A/A+ GPA.
It’s probably because my school doesn’t offer Honors or AP classes, so I’m at a big loss when it comes to standardized testing in particular subjects… But I doubt any colleges will take notice/care about that.

So hopefully an SAT score in about the 80-90% range of Columbia applicants will compensate for SAT IIs that fall at the opposite end of the spectrum… Although I have no idea, as I’m worried they’ll take lots of kids in the 2200s with low/mid-700s on SAT IIs, and thus kick me to the curb.

Blah.
Damn college admissions process…

hahahah the marc kid is just hilarious.

boot him.

i think B has a better chance, although A does look better :)

Hopefully, hopefully B has a better chance – I am B, haha.

And YEAH, that kid was effing annoying.

Seaghost - your SAT2 scores are FINE. Your chances at Columbia are probably much more dependent now on other aspects of your application.

seaghosts you may not get acceptance if you want 100 percent acceptance you should go to a community college

Umm, I didn’t say anything about being assured that I would get accepted to Columbia…

Thanks for the community college advice though. I think I’ll take my chances.

whats your grade on the Physics regents

I didn’t take it… ?

After reviewing this thread…marc and sean are both idiots

Upon further review, Seaghost, I think you have a great chance with your admission chances at Columbia. Hopefully you have some nice EC’s and a nice essay to finish it off…best of luck to you

seaghost … u have a WONDERFUL CHANCE … HOW DID U DOOOO SO WELL ON THE SAT !!! AND NOT HAVE ANY HONORS OR AP ! PLEASE GIVE ME POINT !

marc keeps on insiting that regents are important
FIRST OF ALL I TAKE REGENTS == THERE ONLY REQUIRED IN NEW YORK … i think ?? not sure dont quote me
regents are considered tooo easy ! so why wuld that be more important than an sat.
on bio regents i got a 90 and sat 610 so apparently sat II is harder
lol
and sean likes putitng peoples hopes down

etti, I think they’re the same person.
