we have almost the same scores and i am taking the sat II dec 4, i’ll probably end up with scores similar to yours, however, i believe that you and i stand a chance with ivies considering all ppl on cc are applying to them. They are just way too good. So i advise you to go with other schools instead of wasting your money, but try one of them. That’s what i did, used money for Stanford, and now i just apply to schools like Duquesne

i don’t think where you live or what you are really matters, i.e. my friend who is an Alaskan Eskmo (that’s right, they are really rare), with SAT 1400+ and everything good didn’t get in to Stanford, so yeah…

well some schools are different… look at Bowdoin on Princetonreview.com… Demographics are under “important considerations in freshman class selection…” to me that’s garbage! lol, because a lot of the stuff under “important” is non-academic related

You have a decent shot. You’re slightly more competetive than the average applicant. On a scale of 1 to 10, I’d rate you a 6/6+. Write some amazing essays and get incredible recs. You’ll also need a strong hook like a special interest or quality that will pull you above applicants w/ better stats.

Out of curiosity, how are APs/Honors weighted at your school? With 5 APs and 5 Honors, I would assume your weighted GPA would be higher. Or did you just get B’s in those classes?

Oh, I’d like to clarify my rating scale since my definition of a 6 will differ from others.

A 5 essentially means an avg. applicant with stats that fall within the accepted range. However, nothing extraordinary or outstanding. Chances of getting in are the same as the school’s acceptance rate.

9-10’s are outstanding students, the kind you would naturally assume got accepted. Their chance of getting accepted is around 90 ish.

8’s are the borderline students. They’re just below the 9’s and 10’s, but still quite competetive stats. Acceptance rate of around 50%.

The 6’s and 7’s are in-between the 8’s and 5’s. They’re more competetive than the 5’s, but fall short of the 8’s. They need a strong hook/essay/EC/award/talent/etc. to pull ahead of others.

I’m seriously not trying to attack you but just pointing something out.

It seems to me as if you are not set on any school, so I’m wondering why it has to be an Ivy school? They may be an awesome reason for why you want to go to an Ivy, but why not take into account a field or major a school is good at.
