Which major has the highest avg gpa?

Do any of you know which major has the highest average gpa? Someone told me it was poli sci but I was wondering if any of you know where I can verify that. Thanks.

Ethnomusicology.

Does it really? Before undermining the major - you gotta put into context how you get into its program since it’s part of the music school. Completely different ‘grading’ methods.

Let me rephrase: Which L&S major has the highest average student gpa?

Why does it matter? You should be concerned with learning rather than grades.

I’m just asking out of curiosity.

Where have you been the past 30 years?

i heard it was history
lol

It should be history oO;; It doesn’t even have that many upper divs.

prolly psych

i wouldn’t say psych because it’s the most popular major here.
thus you don’t get the same caliber of students you’d get in EE or something; even though you’re only talking L&S, there’s such a widespread demographic found in psychology as opposed to nearly every major. history or polisci majors have more specific interests than psych; psych is broad, the people taking it are diverse; so i don’t think psych majors have the highest GPA.

and i’m a psych major ;)

wouldnt be surprised if it was history

no, more like WAC

namaste
WAC isn’t L&S

You guys are all off.

First off, it’s definitely NOT poli sci or history. Last I read, it was Scandanivian Studies.

id have to go with mimg followed closely by neuroscience. their upper division courses are not called “gpa booster” courses by random chance you know

Scandinavian studies.

The truth will set you free.

what percentage of those major people are native or part scandinavian?

Silly - about 2-3 people graduate with a bachelor’s in Scandinavian Studies every 5 years or something as ridiculous as that!

Doesn’t matter. You go in, you’re looking at like a 3.8+.

Other than that, go for sociology.

But really, highest GPA doesn’t necessarily mean fluffy or easiest. It may just mean that they’re not curving on an evil curve, like engineering. My grad program curves like bastards, but we sure ain’t learning.

What do you mean? OK, I can understand that it has the highest GPA average of all the majors - at the same time, there’s not a wide-enough pool to say how significant that average is.

Is this really the reputation at our school (or is it in general)? I’ve heard the stereotype of athletes (that choose easy majors) go for things like ___________ Studies or Sociology.
