<p>LACs usually offer more financial aid than public universities - when you exclude athletic scholarships, LACs look even more favorable. (The reason is that American taxpayers prefer to give scholarships to in-state students rather than oversea students.)</p>
<p>Of course many public universities are cheaper than LACs to begin with, and may be the better option if you can afford them.</p>
