Which sandals for this dress?

Here is the dress I bought, it’s my 3rd color in this style in the past couple years. It’s my favorite style dress on me. I hope they restock next summer. There are 2 materials, the lightweight rayon and cotton. I like the rayon better as it just skims the problem areas and hides them, and you can pack it with no wrinkles. It really flatters legs as it’s cut up on the sides. If anyone is interested in the dresss it runs large. I’m a solid size 8, pear shaped and I took the small. Medium just wasn’t as flattering.

This is it in the cotton, to show on the model.

Moving on to my question. The only nude sandals I have to go with the lilac are peep toe wedges and I’m not loving that look.

Option 1: I like the pewter\silver color, as I also have a pewter/silver/lilac necklace that looks great. Not sure if the sandals are too dark and eyes would be pulled down. Not crazy about cost, but possibly could wear in fall with other clothes.

Option 2: same sandal s in nude leather. Would hide easier on my legs, but not match as well. However, it would be nice to have a nude sandal with a heel that’s not pointed. (Oops…couldn’t g

Option 3: lighter silver is less noticeable. Like the price. Don’t like the chunkier heel as much, but not awful.

Option 4: Same sandals as 3 only in beige. However, a much lighter beige.

Thanks!

Shoe option 1 and 2 are the same shoe.

I prefer the beige one myself but I am NOT a shiny silver shoe person - at all. Taking that out of the equation the silver seems WAY too dressy for the dress.

I vote for option #1–the heel is elegant, yet chunky enough to give support. The silver will be beautiful with the lavender dress, and will be so useful for fall and winter cocktail dresses or trousers. Nude shoes seem so over, and never were that attractive IMHO.

I prefer option #1 too but in the nude leather. I think the silver is too dressy for that dress and you’ll get more use out of the nude color. I don’t like the heel on the other shoe.

I think the silver may be seen as dressy in certain conservative areas, yet in fashion forward places like NY, CA, TX, or resort locales, metallics are seen as festive rather than formal.

As my wise then 8-year old told me when I doing some home renovations and couldn’t decide between 2 lighting fixtures, “Which one is cheaper? Pick that one”.

I shop for shoes to go with cheapo dresses in my closet. Can you shop in yours? I would not buy a new pair of shoes for a $35 dress which I assume will be worn once or twice.

A nude sandal that matches your skin tone will elongate your legs.

" I would not buy a new pair of shoes for a $35 dress which I assume will be worn once or twice."

Why do you assume it will be worn once or twice? To me, it looks like the kind of dress that could get a lot of everyday wear. Comfortable, easy to slip on.

… and trendy… I have a suspicion that it will not survive more than a couple of washes.

Reviews are very strong. I doubt they would be if it didn’t hold up. Plus, the OP has bought the dress in other colors before as stated. You can’t always judge by price. I have plenty of clothes, tees for example, which cost much less that see plenty of washes and wear just fine.

It’s a very basic style. Not that trendy IMO.

Reviews state Nordstrom has been carrying this dress since 2015. Hundreds of positive reviews.

I’m paying two college tuitions. I think the majority of the clothes in my closet fit this (less than $35) description. Lol. If it’s not on sale, I don’t buy it. Unless it’s shoes. I do like shoes. And dress jackets for work. Other than that, no.

I like the silver shoe in option 1 too. But then, I’m from NY. We wear stuff like that.

I’m a guy, so what do I know? But I don’t like the chunky heel in #3 and #4. Plus the silver in #3 looks like a shoe worn by Maggie Gyllenhaal in The Deuce.

Personally, I’d opt for #1

I really am fine with mixing and matching nice, more expensive items with my discounted finds. That’s how I’ve dressed my whole life and it would be tough changing now.

That said, I buy all footwear based on comfort first and looks/style a very distant second. Hobbling and limping is a bad look for me. All of the sandals suggested look fairly similar to me in terms of comfort/discomfort.

I highly recommend going barefoot. It would look good with the dress. Or if barefoot is not your thing, get a pair of flipflops.

I’m no help I can’t wear 9 west shoes. I’ve bought same price shoes at macy’s That feel great.

Bumping this up…

Why do people seem to make snide comments to @conmama? She asked a genuine question and unless I’m way off base, the answers don’t seem very nice to me.

If you don’t like her style, that’s ok. But don’t be mean.

I was the first to respond and if I sounded rude I do apologize. Often here on CC I am just jaw dropped at how different styles we - or I - have. I just truly can’t imagine anyone I know wearing the high sparkly sandals with a tshirt tank dress. Clearly I’m just from a different opinion that some others here who think it’s a good combo.

If I was wearing this I would choose a pair of Tevas or maybe a not too complicated gladiator sandal. I think that’s what the video on the dress recommended.

Good point @abasket, the silver might seem too fancy for the dress. I held a pair of silver flats sandals I would wear if I had to walk a lot and those were fine. But a pair of heels might be too much and detract from the dress if I want to dress it up. I suppose it depends on the venue. I like nude sandals, but somehow it just doesn’t go with the lilac, and I love nude shoes. I own 6 in various styles (none go with the dress). I don’t believe @deb22 was referring to your post.

I think @doschicos brought up going thru my closet. I think I actually found a pair that might work. I’ll put it on my avatar tomorrow and see what you think, it’s a wedge though.

The first dress I bought I’ve worn 6 times and have never washed. Only worn in the evenings and never got it dirty. The cotton one I’ve only worn once, but I sure if I hand washed and laid flat it would be fine. I feel great in this dress, you should try it at the price point.

Thanks @deb22. This is one of my first posts in over a month. I had become disheartened at the tone of many posters and had to back off.
