<p>NYU comes to mind due to the lack of campus and school spirit</p>
<p>University of Rochester - not much to do on campus, but the campus is surrounded by a river on one side, a cemetary on another, and a ghetto on the other so doing stuff off campus turns out to be a pain. Food also sucks. </p>
<p>SUNY Binghamton - not much to do on campus or off campus, most of the ‘peers’ are ****ed because they couldn’t get into ivy’s, and the food sucks</p>

<p>While I would vote for UChicago in this category (where fun goes to die), it seems ridicuous to create a thread seeking this kind of info out.</p>
<p>I don’t know - it seems like a perfectly reasonable concern to me. I went about researching minivans a couple years ago and was willing to make a significant investment in one that would last the remainder of my child-rearing years. The one at the top on my “on paper” list turned out to have a fatal design flaw when I actually got to test-drive it, and I thought at the time “thank goodness for test drives.” But college is an even bigger investment and while the overnight visit is of some benefit, it’s not quite the same as a test drive. So asking whether an otherwise impressive institution is in a bad part of town or is a joyless place to be or is mired in bad weather nine months a year sounds like a pretty useful question. As far as limiting it to the “Top 50,” there are schools whose lack of resources limit both their academic opportunities and quality of life, so it seems to me that the OP is trying to remove those from the discussion and focus on schools whose downsides might not be so apparent.</p>

<p>Cornell. The food is actually very good. Aside from that, though, everyone seems so stressed out and unhappy. Plus its really really cold and surrounded by farms</p>

<p>I wish that were true, but unfortunately UF is better than the 60+ schools. 
I know that most in that range are pretty equal, but it’s the principal of the matter and how he said it.</p>
