Which Top College did You Turn Down???

<p>Turned down Cornell and Georgia Tech down for Tufts.</p>

<p>My D turned down Tufts & Vandy (as well as other good, but lesser-known schools … Rhodes, Centre, Denison, DePauw, & Hendrix) for Furman. Fit was best!</p>

<p>Princeton was amazing but their financial aid was a bit weak–and it is just hard to say no to the “H-Bomb.”</p>

<p>Son turned down MIT, Cornell, WUSTL, and Vanderbilt.</p>

<p>Loved Harvey Mudd and figures he’ll have nice options for grad school.</p>

<p>This is all very fascinating. It goes to show, its not just about rankings or stats, its about fit and feel for people. What I want to know is this: if you (or your kid) had such stellar stats as to get into all these schools (some had multiple Ivy admissions), then why did they apply to so many schools and not simply narrow it down to the two or three that really caught your fancy? Was it ego driven? Just wondering. Congrats to all.</p>
