So everyone should have most of their apps done. I thought it might be fun to see what kids and parents are doing to take their minds off the process until March 10. I’ll start:

ME: I plan on distracting myself with the Chopin Etudes that I haven’t played since college.

SON: Was just asked to join FFA (Future Farmers of America) which is completely hysterical when one considers that he’s never been near a farm animal and once asked me why the man in American Gothic was holding a trident. They need someone who can do extemporaneous speaking and debate at the regional conference. So I guess he’ll be spending the next month reading farm policy.

Since my D is applying for private day schools (middle schools) the process is slightly different. The next month and a half for us is filled with visits, assessment days, activity days, interviews, etc. She is applying to five schools.

I will be filling my time by trying to complete my taxes ASAP so I can complete the financial aid process. By the end of Feb. all visits will be completed and we will just wait until the decisions are mailed on March 11 and 12.

I am not a patient person and I hate waiting! LOL.

LOL, periwinkle. That’s what’s so funny, (that you’re not really kidding). I guess they needed a kid with really strong opinions and a proclivity towards making empassioned speeches. That sums him up pretty well.

It’s a great compliment to your son. Farmers are very down-to-earth people (no pun intended.) They deal with manure every day, and they kill animals they’ve raised to put food on our plates. They deal with real life, and the farmers I know don’t suffer fools gladly. It’s tremendous that they choose to trust your son to represent them, although he doesn’t (yet) know anything about farming.

haha, i’ve got some friends in FFA, but they only joined cuz of the prez. (^.-) <- wink
I will be practicing my FBLA speech, getting ready for the FBLA fashion show, raising money for my trip to DC, conditioning for track, and attempting to not think about M10 (that rhymes!! kind of)

I’ll be reading like always although probably more than usual. I probably won’t get stressed till the 8th or 9th. It takes quite a bit to get my stressed for example I have 4 hours to get my 2 essays writen but I’m quite calm because I know it’ll get done. :p

I don’t think my parents are particularly worried; they don’t really want me to go to BS so if I get in, I get in. My sister is torn I think between being delighted at me not being around if I go and rubbing in my face that I’m not THAT smart if I don’t get in. Oh and neato, I just wanted to say you were totally right in my opinion about Groton being something special!

We are not done yet, one more interview next week. Then S will take SAT next week too for cty summer camp. It the score is good, we will send it to applied schools.

Haha Rad-in-Plaid, CTY is fun. I can’t wait for the ice to melt and go biking on weekends, I might go tomorrow! I plan on tackling a couple of books, or just focusing hard on school work. My grades haven’t been going down, but I want that 4.0… :)
