Has any one called and asked the internship office for a status update recently?

@amplifiar842 thanks for that recap! Sounds pretty promising.

I just got my vitals email! :)

Just called, I asked about the vitals e-mail address question first. All she told me was that my e-mail had been received so I would assume either address would of been okay (I sent it to @whitehouse.gov). Secondly I asked if she knew anything about when we would be contacted next either in general or with decisions, I was told that they were not allowed to give specifics but that notifications had begun and we would be hearing soon.

Finally got my vitals email as well. With the required turn-around of 24 hours, maybe we’ll all hear later this week? The next email has got to be a decision.

@sparkleangelbaby Thanks for the updates. I’m trying to stay optimistic about “soon”.

thanks a lot, amplifiar. that’s very helpful.

@amplifiar842 Thanks!

@Analytical10 I was only asked 4 questions before I asked my own. I remember only 2 of them: What is your definition of leadership? Tell me more about yourself.

I felt confident. I asked the questions to the best of my abilities. Now for the waiting game.

@iChristina2011 cool! Sounds like it went well.

Yes, now for the waiting game. I do think we will find out at the latest by next week.

Good luck everyone!

Pretty please today… Or tomorrow… This week at least?

I hope it’s today! I am burning out over here.

Seriously want to knoww!!!

The White House might be a little busy… but honestly, my internship is way more important than trivial issues like the collapse of the Eurozone!

;-)

Lol @wh2360

Does anyone know whether or not the internship office confirms reciept of vitals emails?

@wh2360 You said it! Il Presidente is stepping down, anyway, so what’s the big deal? Everything’ll be fixed tomorrow!

:P

@Analytical10 Indications from previous posts indicate not - the fact that someone posted recently that s/he called the WH Internship Office for confirmation suggests if there’s electronic confirmation, it’s slow coming. But then I haven’t gotten a vitals email yet, so I can’t speak for myself.

So, I have a question for anyone who’s read the previous posts on this thread…has anyone gotten a hint that the White House tells applicants not to share the news of their acceptances? I know the official press release of the list of interns usually comes out way late in each section, but I think it sounds like we’re not supposed to broadcast it when we actually hear…which may explain why we’re not hearing any news from say, Twitter, where it’s hard to be anonymous…if in fact decisions have gone out.

I know that a few people on Twitter have announced that they’ve been accepted to the WH office of Drug Enforcement Policy (Not sure if that’s the exact title). I do think they ask you not to publish the decision for a few weeks after your conditional acceptance.

Looks like we won’t be hearing today. Yargh!!!

@analytical10 Reading back through the posts, it doesn’t look like they confirm anymore. I didn’t receive confirmation (and I emailed mine yesterday as well) and haven’t seen confirmations this round at all from those who received vitals prior to interviews.

I wouldn’t worry; I’m certain they received our vitals and are just too swamped with responses to send confirmations.

Thanks @MagicMirror and wh2360

I called to confirm and they did receive my form. I also asked when notifications would go out and I was told no, I have to be patient…haha

They seemed a bit stressed. It must be as grueling for them as it is for us.

@wh2360 I read one post where the intern who had been admitted said that the office told him or her not to publicize being accepted into the program on social networks.

As for the WH Drug Enforcement Policy internship, I believe it is a whole different application process. I have a friend who interned at the WH Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanics and the application process went through the Department of Education even though the office is commissioned by the WH. I have a feeling that the DEP internship has a similar process.

@Analytical10: That makes sense. Thanks for trying to get some info from the Intern Office. I bet they are really stressed. Kind of frustrating that they can’t even give us a rough time estimate: a week, a few days, etc.

@wh2360 Now now, we might yet hear today lol. It’s only 4:52 EST…their close of business seems to be 6PM.

@Analytical10 – I bet they’re positively scrambling. They probably get more applications than any undergraduate admissions office, in terms of the ratio between application number to available staff evaluators. If it’s true that they get 6,000 applicants, then their process of narrowing down makes Harvard College’s look like a joke. For their sake, hopefully all the logistics will be hammered out soon, as much as ours haha

When I hung up with my interviewer 2.5 weeks ago, she said, “We will be in touch in a few weeks.”

I really wouldn’t be surprised if we have at least another week to wait.

Just wishful thinking, is all :)

My interviewer told me two weeks ago, on Tuesday, that I would hear in two weeks. Which I did, I got my vitals email yesterday.

The only thing that worries me a bit is the housing situation. I am currently abroad and would be arriving a few weeks before the start date.

Have you guys considered or looked into housing yet?
