I haven’t received a vitals email. I did, however, get another ‘app in process’ email last week. Based on earlier posts on this forum, the vitals email doesn’t seem to have any bearing on whether or not a place is offered. I think it is just for applicants who didn’t provide sufficient personal information on the first application (full SSN and such).

Obviously, I’m a touch biased, and hoping that my lack of a vitals email doesn’t mean I’m out of the hunt!

@wh2360 You are absolutely right. Based on previous posts the vitals is not a deal breaker. Getting an interview seems to be more important in the process. I am rooting for you too!

This forum has a way of keeping us calm during this strenuous process.

Thanks! What were your top choices? Did you interview with anybody? If not, I’ve heard that sometimes departments just pick interns without interviews. GOD this is all so random. :p

Yea, it is completely random. I read that too.

My top choices were Chief of Staff, Cabinet Affairs, and Domestic Policy. I interviewed with Office of Public Engagement/Intergovernmental Affairs. Based on my experience this office would be a good fit.

My top was Chief of Staff as well. Second choice was Communications. I was interviewed by the Office of Digital Strategy. Not sure what drew them to my resume, but I’m glad something did!

Still keeping my fingers crossed for CoS. Apparently this batch of interns for CoS weren’t interviewed, they were just picked. So keeping up hope!

Housing wise, if I get it, I’m thinking Virginia along the public transportation line. I really want to have my car with me…so I think it would be easier to have it not in the city…but I’d like to be able to use Ptrans. Not sure if White House internships are this way, but I’m pretty sure State Department interns get free public trans in DC (but not abroad unfortunately…)…so maybe we’d get that perq as well. Would also consider Maryland.

I feel like rooming with other interns (either WH or other) would probably bring down costs a lot…but rooming with people you don’t know is always…interesting haha

I received an email today stating that I am being interview for the Office of Presidential Correspondence tomorrow! Anyone have any advice? I will be searching through the blog looking for past interviews

Just be prepared to tell them why yoh’re interested in their department. And obviously be prepared to discuss anythin on your resume. Be confident an think up a question or two that you’d like to ask. You’ll do great!! Let us know how it goes!

@big talker good luck with your interview. Try not to be nervous. My interview was a conversation that included questions like, why do you want to intern at WH? What are your expectations? Name a time when you faced a challenge and overcame it.

Be prepared to answer things like that. Also, I read on the thread that some people were asked to name strengths and weaknesses.

At the end of my interview I was allowed to ask questions, so have some questions ready to ask the interviewer.

Again, good luck! Look forward to hearing about it.

@wh2360, analytical, iChristina, thank you each for your words of advice! This really sounds like you are all very intelligent people, who know what you are talking about. I look forward to letting you know how the interview goes tomorrow!

Analytical - Housing is also my biggest reason for stressing out. I am abroad as well and will be arriving in the states approx 2 weeks before the internship starts if accept. I have absolutely no idea what Im going to do about this.

Wh2360 - didnt get a vitals email either. im hoping that past posts and most of what has been said is true about it having little to no correlation with receiving an offer. i think my interview went well so im just going to focus on that while i desperately wait for answer.

atleast when applying to college they had the decency of giving us an response date.
but im hoping for an answer right after thanksgiving.

@iskander I guess we are on the same boat. But hopefully the connections we establish on this forum might make the housing hunt easier. If you feel comfortable answering, what continent and or country are you in?

Given that interviews are still going on, you are right, we probably won´t find out for another week or two :/
