Thank you for applying to the Spring 2012 White House Internship Program. We regret to inform you that we are unable to offer you an internship for the Spring 2012 program.

We appreciate your dedication to public service and strongly encourage you to re-submit your application for consideration for the Summer 2012 White House Internship Program.
@Wh2360 sorry to hear that. But don´t worry I am sure you have an awesome resume and will do something great this spring. You should try applying again for the next round. I´ve seen people on this forum that have applied 2 and 3 times and then get the offer.

I’m definitely putting my hat in the ring for the next round (although I’m sure summer is the most competitive semester). For now, I guess I’ll finish of Junior year at school. C’est la vie.

Good luck to the rest of you!!! I’ll keep checking the forum and shall await your news on bated breath!

I interviewed with the Department of Digital Strategy. It was by no means my first choice (I didn’t even put it on my list of desired departments). My first choice was CoS and second was Communications.

For future nervous applicants who will, as we all have, fall victim to the guessing game, here is my info:

Received App in Process Email
Received Email from DigStrat Dept
Was asked to complete timed writing sample
Received 2nd Process Email
Received Letter of Rejection

I think applying for the Summer would be a great idea. Considering that the office asked you for a writing sample and that they weren’t even on your list, means that they probably saw something on your resume that they liked. I can attest to this, considering that the Office of Presidential Correspondence was 7th on my list and they were the only ones to contact me (I have a special connection to this office). Sometimes spots just fill up, maybe they decided to just take grad students. If I were you I would apply again.

@wh2360 - Chin up and best of luck to you! Absolutely apply for the summer and in the mean time, maybe you’ll find something else really cool to do in DC and some of us will hopefully get to meet you anyway :)

Oh gosh guys…decisions are actually starting to go out. One of my good friends got a negatory email today too… Hopefully we’ll all know soon…for better or for worse…though preferably for better.

@sparkleangelbaby Thanks, I emailed and I got a response back saying that they didn’t get around to calling me, because they were busy doing interviews. They said they would call me today, so they decided to allocate another 6 hour block.
