<p>I would find it very funny if mine had been checked/called…two of them are not in the U.S. and are at least 6 hours ahead of EST haha. The other would have told me…I see him every day in class.</p>

<p>Just an update: Today I received the vitals email. So far…</p>
<p>I received the APE, an interview, and then a second APE, and then vitals. I really think all the variety in responses comes down to the fact that each department is handling it differently…just a thought. I have no clue really.</p>

<p>Happy Veterans Day, all. Dont forget to thank a Vet for his/her service to our country. And keep my military brothers and sisters in your thoughts today, especially those that are stationed overseas.</p>

<p>Since Veteran’s Day is an official federal holiday, it is unlikely that we will be notified of any decisions today. </p>
<p>As @mrgrimm92 commented, we should all be thankful to the veterans who have served and continue to serve our country on this somber day. As those of us who have lived in Europe, we know how important this day is to our allied friends, since it was created to commemorate the end of the horrors of World War I on 11/11/1918.</p>
<p>I think this should be a day that we reflect on not only the service of our veterans but our desire to contribute to public service through the White House internship program. I hope everyone enjoys their weekend.</p>

<p>WH - Quite sorry to hear that but I very much admire the spirit! If I don’t get it for the spring I will definitely apply again, however I have also read that the summer is the most competitive applicant pool since many more students apply.</p>

<p>I imagine @iskander was referring to the rejection emails that went out last week…? Twitter doesn’t seem to turn up anything useful in the way of rejections or acceptances.</p>
<p>I’m not saying College Confidential is inadequate, but I am however wondering if you guys know of any other places online where spring 2012 applicants are discussing this collective wait? Other places might also have people announcing what they have and haven’t heard from the White House…? I’m not sure how useful social media would be, considering that White House interns might not be allowed to announce their decisions “in print” / in writing.</p>
<p>On an unrelated note.
The fact that the summer 2012 application opened today makes my tummy a bit queasy. I don’t know why…I guess it’s just the thought that I might have to go through that submission process again and the wait that just goes on and on. I imagine pretty soon we’re going to start seeing posts on here with new users going through the process…while we still wait to hear about a session that starts in just two months!</p>
<p>Anyway…my heart still starts thumping every time I get an email to my crackberry.</p>
<p>FYI i just looked back at the summer 2011 discussion, and it looks like the first legitimate round of acceptances came just more than 3 weeks after the date on which rolling notifications supposedly began (roughly where we’re at now). they came on a monday (march 14) and were followed by a round of rejections on friday of that same week. it looks like things were then quiet until about 3 weeks later–another round of acceptances/rejections went out in early April.</p>
<p>Looking back at last year’s spring applicants, people didn’t hear anything until early-mid December. I suppose we all just have to be patient!</p>
<p>for what it’s worth, though, the application for last year’s spring class was due about 3 weeks after ours.</p>
<p>I wonder what the ratio of applicants to Internship Office staffers is haha…</p>

<p>They seem to be universally behind in this process. Applications for summer 2012 are supposed to be online today, but they aren’t even up yet. My guess is we’ll see that up before they contact our group.</p>
