Banannez I’m not sure either what the vitals email is, hopefully someone on here will be able to explain it to us.

From what I gather, a vitals email asks for your name, dob, and full social security number. Previous members have taken that to mean that you are being considered for a position, and that normally goes out a week before the notification deadline.

hi. i applied last year, the vitals email is a .pdf that asks for your basic info, that gets emailed, generally before the interviews begin—i got my vitals email in february and was interviewed two months later; along the way i got a few “still processing” emails, so look out for those. there’s no confirmation anywhere of who gets vitals emails and who doesn’t. i got one last year and an interview and didn’t get the internship, while others have gotten a vitals email and no interview. don’t read too much into it, like all things in this process, as long as they’re still sending you emails, you’re still in the running.

Kobayyear,

Sorry to hear that you didn’t get an internship. Did you re-apply? Thanks for informing us about the vitals email. It helps clear a lot up.

I got an e-mail today.

“Dear Applicant,
Your application for the Summer 2012 White House Internship Program was received. Thank you for your submission. As is noted on our website, notification will begin the week of February 20, 2012 on a rolling basis.
Thank you,
The White House Internship Program”

I’m assuming everyone else did as well. I’m so excited :)

P.S. I’m from Colorado too!

Hey,

Daniel when did you apply? I’ve yet to receive that email and i’m freaking out LOL

I got it this morning at 10:51 am! So it’ll come soon!

3:52pm Rocky Mountain Time and still nothing, this waiting is unbearable! Daniel, I meant when did you send in your application. I sent mine in the day before the deadline, so I’m wondering if the earlier you sent your app, the earlier you get that email. Has anyone else gotten the email that Daniel is referring to?

yes, I as well. See you guys! I’ll check back here once the week of the 20th comes. Good luck to you all!

Wow, Colorado is representing here!

I got the email around 11 a.m. (MST). I got the app and recommendations in on 12/30.

Thanks guys, I had a question about my app since one of my recommenders sent her letter twice and they responded to that initial email. I’ll wait a couple of more days and then start freaking out!

Sorry it took me so long to reply! Anyway, I submitted my application on December 17th!

Hey All,

So after freaking out for most of the day, I was blessed to be contacted by someone who is currently in the program. He stated that the app is hand typed into a database which triggers an email being sent to your email. This makes sense. Daniel sent his in on the 17th and they sent him an email first, followed by Banannez who sent theirs in on the 30th. I submitted my app the day before it was due, and I’m assuming more people sent it in closer to the deadline then earlier on, so I might have some waiting to do. Writing it out makes me feel good because their is a logic behind it.

Now I can get back to school LOL

See! All is well
I wish the best of luck to everyone, and I hope to meet a few of you over the summer in Washington DC!

Thank you for clarifying that whdenver85 !!

Hey everyone, received an email from the white house committee saying they received my application and notifications will start the week of feb 20 on a rolling basis!

Out of curiosity/to keep things interesting…what did you guys write about in your policy memos?

openpoetry - I wrote to the Office of Legislative Affairs about the need for a federal anti-bullying law. It’s a bit cliche, but I’m very passionate about that issue!

openpoetry,

care to lead by example?
