I got another APE. Did anyone else? Does that even mean anything?

I got a still processing email tonight as well.

Bellabzug, if APE is an acronym for automated processing email, then I just got another one too. So far, I’ve gotten 2 APEs and nothing else. Weird, but I’m assuming its not a bad sign?

received automated processing email too, this is the second one after a phone interview a few weeks ago.

still waiting to hear back! did not receive any emails today. had interview 3 weeks ago and received vitals email the day following.

Hey, can anyone shed some light on what their phone interviews have been like? Are they general and behavioral? Are there any department-specific questions? If applicable to the departments you applied to, were there any technical questions?

This is such a strange process. I’m enjoying our efforts trying to crack the code of their methods.

So, I won’t mention the department I interviewed with, but I think you would be wise to expect general interview questions: Why do you want to work here, explain parts of your resume, why this office, etc. I would also say its good policy to do your research on the department you are interviewing with and the people you are interviewing with.

Hey guys–

Just wondering what vitals are? Is that the 28 pages of consent forms and background info?
Thanks!

Upstate 12,

No, there is an email that goes out prior to the National Security Questionnaire that asks for a confirmation of your vital details (name, city born, social security number, etc.) If you received the 28 pages, your beyond the vital stage.

vitals were a single page.
the 20+ pages you’re talking about are the SF86 and other forms, right? if so, then that’s different from vitals. glad to hear i’m not the only person who had to fill those out!

Is it weird/should I be concerned that I’ve had two phone interviews with different offices, but I haven’t even received the vitals email yet?

Question: Anyone know if it possible to defer an acceptance to a later term?

pretty sure you can’t defer. also received the SF86 etc. i think thats a good sign but who knows.

Love to see people coming out of the wood works. Welcome all.

i’ve received 2 APEs but no interviews or vital requests - given that people are receiving full background checks (SF86), is that probably an indication that they’re just waiting to give out acceptances and reject us once that’s done?

I feel like no interviews or vitals at this point is bad news…

whsummer2012,

Not necessarily. This could just be that some offices have moved quicker than others. Keep the faith! To those who have filled out your SF86 forms, how long ago did you do that? I’m wondering what the turn around time is on that (how long it takes them to do the background check) and notify us…

I’m curious how many of you are undergrads vs. graduate students/young professionals? During my phone interview, it was mentioned that the offices each group is typically sent to operate at much different paces and with differing procedures (vitals and security forms are not universal across the offices).

had my phone interview today! the director said they should be making final decisions by the beginning of next week. (or at least their office)
