Did anyone receive an email stating that they had received your SF86 paperwork?

I’m an undergrad. Office of public engagement.

Haven’t received any forms tho, so those who have, are way ahead! (I would say you have good chance). Congrats!

@whdenver, i did

chbulls,

Do you think that means they are just starting to look at our SF86 forms or that we will get something tomorrow or monday?

Hey everyone, congrats to those who received their SF86 forms and such. I’m humbled to be included in that batch also. Anyways, I did some research and this was one of the better sites I found that explains the security clearance process: [Security Clearances help in obtaining a job](<a href=“Security Clearance Information and Jobs - Top Three Tasks When Applying for a Security Clearance”>Security Clearance Information and Jobs - Top Three Tasks When Applying for a Security Clearance)

Pretty much, we’re looking at a minimum of one-two months for us to be cleared. Makes sense b/c if you refer back to some of these forum pages, some interns had to look for DC housing within a month!

Anyways, fingers crossed for a speedy process.

I sure hope so

I don’t think its going to take months. I think a more realistic time table is the next two weeks, which still feels like forever!

Denver is right I believe. Every office is different, but I’ve been told we should find out as we approach or perhaps even enter early April. They’re quite aware that people have (or will have) other offers to consider and can’t risk being internship-less in the summer by holding for a WH position they may not get.

I know it’s tough, but we just have to be patient over the next 2-3 weeks and let the process play out.

I don’t think it’s the offices at this point. When I interviewed with the Office, they told me they turn over their decision to the internship office and then the internship office does what they do. I understood that to be that our respective offices have selected us for the internship already, that’s why we’ve moved on to Departmental Review. Once our background check is complete, as long as we don’t bring up an alert, I think we get the internship. And although the National Security Questionnaire was long, the fact that some of us are still interviewing with respective offices means that the offices that have selected are first, so its not like they are doing 100 background checks, more likely 30-40. All of this, though, is my logical analysis of the situation, not gospel.

Yes I heard the same, though they did mention it’s unpredictable as to how long the central internship office will take to process everything. That’s why I was told it could be as late as early April before anything is confirmed.

I’ve work with security clearances alot in the military and have had to help 1000s fill out and SF86 forms. They will most likely give you an interim clearance based off a quick background check then you will be officially cleared a month or two later. They will most likely already offer you the internship but could release you if anything serious show later. If you have any other questions don’t hesitate to ask.

I think today or Monday is the day.

Okay, this is kinda weird…

So prior to today, I got 2 processing emails, no interview, no vitals, nothing else. But today, I received the “departmental review” email with the SF86, FBI clearance, and all that other stuff.

What does this mean? Are we pretty close to being accepted or what?

whoa whoa whoa… on the intern form, it says “to be completed by all persons tentatively selected to be an intern.” is this as good news as i think it is? i’m kind of freaking out

I think so wonka. It depends on what office you applied to as to whether you’ll interview or just be selected.

I was interviewed and received the sf86 thr day after. I’d say your in good shape, but keep an eye out for a department-specific email or phone call from a blocked number. Congrats!

Willard,

Congrats, our current understanding is that yes, if you receive this form, they are thinking about offering a conditional acceptance. The email lets you know though that this is not an acceptance, so don’t count your eggs before they’ve hatched. But it’s definitely a good look for you.

Wow - I don’t even know what to say. I’m thrilled to have made it this far. Denver - I sent you a quick question via pm

Wonka,

Apologies for the late reply, but I answered it via PM.

For those who filled out the clearance/FBI forms: if electronic signatures will not suffice, how did you sign the forms? (since you can’t save it to your comp?) Help please, it’s due in two business days…
